Hamhuis

If Danny Hamhuis ""does happen"" to get dealt at the deadline, which team would want him the most and what would he fetch in return??

It would seem that the Capitals would be looking for a player like him. Most buyers are not going to want to trade off their roster. If its a deal based on futures for a rental, the Capitals may well have the largest and most comprehensive stockpile of NHL ready or near ready prospects in the league.

I would imagine that David Poile could find a player there that he likes plus the Caps 1st round pick.

News that Kaberle is going to hit the market afterall might change the marketplace somewhat, but a Caps/Preds deal for a rental would seem to fit the assets available on both ends.

my guess would be to NJ for a 1st and a low level prospect or a 2nd with a good prospect going back. Just my 2cents though

People will say NJ, but I think NJ will go for a cheaper veteran rental type. NJ already traded a handful of assets to get Kovalchuk and I don't think they want to trade another top prospect, good young roster player or 1st round pick to get a guy like Hamhuis. I think Washington makes sense. I also think there could be something to the Boston rumors too.

If the Preds are looking for instant offensive help, would Eric Fehr be enough? Maybe with a pick/prospect?

Next years 1st, right? Their 2010 1st was included in the Kovalchuk trade.

Ideally I think we would want a first round pick and whatever else is do able.

What would Boston or Washington offer along with their late first round picks??

Yes our next 1st round pick went to Atl. for Kovy. And i dont see Lou trading the 2011 pick and leavin us with no 1st round pick the next 2 years. But with Lou we never know.

But we all trust him.

Sorry but Begin value is low, Ference is a 5th d-men and 2nd not enough.

Probably a return like : Matt Hunwick and Vladimir Svobodka for Hamhuis

Not likely to see those guys traded for what could be a 20-game rental.

Have you watched the trading deadline take place before?

no clue who is interested in him but if it's NJ or WAS my guess would be a 2nd/3rd rd pick and a young roster player/prospect. ex: perreault/fehr/osala/johansson + 2nd/3rd from WAS or zharkov/palmieri/halischuk/vasyunov + 2nd/3rd from NJ.

it really depends on what the preds need.

Sens offer:

Lee, Winchester, 3rd

Although I'm not sure Murray would do that.

Asking price is said to START with a roster forward that can help with goal scoring.

Ference isn't much worse than Hamhuis when he's healthy, so I'm not sure how that offer's terrible.

I think Vancouver would have interest in him, but doesn't really have the assets to acquire him. They probably want to keep assets like Grabner, Schneider, Hansen, their 1st for a bigger deal. I think they go after him when he's a UFA to replace Mitchell.

Its Sobotka. And I would do that deal. Claude Julien doesn't like Sobotka for some reason so I have no qualms in trading him rather than a 2nd rounder with Hunwick to get Hamhuis.

Nothing. I wouldn't even offer a 1st for him. If that's the price Washington can have him.

i would not offer a first for him either. he is a good defenseman and i would like to have him on our team, but not for a first rounder for twenty games. if our chances were better to win the cup i would do it, but not this year.

if you guys want a roster goal scorer, the only guy we really could offer is ryder, but i don't think that is who you guys are looking for, salary wise.

but my offer would be ryder, tampa's second and ference. if you guys do want begin for your pk i would throw him in too.

Caps are not going to part with any roster players in a trade. And in any case, I think they would deal Fleischmann before they dealt Fehr -- Fehr has size, strength and greater upside than Fleischmann.
