Robert Czarnik

This is a question towards those who have knowledge on the Plymouth Whalers. Does anyone know if Robbie Czarnik plays on the same line as Tyler Seguin? Every time I see the box score, most of Seguin's goals are assisted by Czarnik, I think this kid (Robbie) has lots of potential, I know he didn't make the junior American team in December, but I still see a solid contributer later on.

You would probably get a much quicker reply if you asked in this forum

35 games played 12 goals and 27 assists for 39 points w/ the whalers.

Czarnik impressed me very much in rookie camps the last couple of years. I have a feeling he makes it to the nhl. His shot is pretty wicked.

That damned Michigan program held Robbie Czarnik back.

I'm sure that's what Lombardi is thinking.

Ya think, Ziggy?

I like what I have seen of him - he has that buzzsaw element to his game. No, it won't translate to big NHL numbers, but he could carve out a Kobasew-type nitch, maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

Exactly. He's fast and strong from what I've seen so he'd fit nicely on the third line (since it appears Simmonds has been promoted).

yes, agreed. I honestly think this kid has some potential, watch out for him in training camp.

An interesting thing about him is the move he made to the OHL. I know DL pushes his prospects to go through the CHL, so that once they come to the NHL, they're physically ready for it, in my opinion, the WHL/OHL are probably the two closest leagues to the NHL. For example: look at Oscar Moller, a guy who played in Sweden and then played in Chilliwack, he might be a small guy, but he can take the hits and bounce right back. Andrei Loktionov is another example of a guy that made the transition to North American hockey by playing in Windsor of the OHL. I think this is a great approach by DL. Or Trevor Lewis, a guy who played in the USHL for 2 years and then moved to Owen Sound to play in the OHL.

Czarnik played at Michigan and then he decided (i'm not sure what the reason for the change was, maybe DL didn't want him playing for that Michigan coach), but he's playing in Plymouth now. This is a wonderful way of managing your prospects, another great decision by the almighty DL
