Makin' room for Lehtonen - it will be interesting to see how he does in Dallas, if he takes over the #1 spot.

I would rather him than Boucher on the flyers.

enjoyed him when he was in Boston, briefly, was a good teammate it seemed. he's got his warts, but he's big and takes up a decent amount of net.

That tells you what the rest of the league thinks of Turco.

I hope for Alex's sake someone picks him up. I hope Marty likes the view from the bench. He needs to be on it the majority of the time.

Halak is the guy teams are waiting for.

He could come back to haunt the Habs for a long time.

Lehtonen must be ready to go. He'll take over the starting job if he's healthy IMO. I'm just surprised they waived Auld, now having a risk of losing him when I thought he'd be the one resigned and Turco would be let go in the summer. I really thought Lehtonen would start next season and Auld would be his backup. Auld moves around a lot but he's a fine backup. Can't see why he's always on the move but I wonder if a team in need of a backup will pick him up. Buffalo, New York Rangers, or Calgary would be my guess but unfortunately I see him AHL bound for the remainder of the season. Not sure if another team would be interested in him as he is a UFA at season's end.

Hmm... I'm not so sure I agree with you.

I can't imagine a team would take on Turoc's contract without sending a goaltender to Dallas in return, so it doesn't mean it won't happen. If anything I think a move like this usually precedes another move. Sending down Auld actually might mean Dallas will be trading Turco for another backup. Especially if Auld has more than 1 year left on hsi contract.

does anyone know Auld's contract status?

Calgary would be perfect fit.

Auld is a good #2. If Sutter is paying attention he will see Mcbackup sucks and having a guy like Auld to allow Kipper a little rest will be good for there push to the playoffs

he'll be a UFA in the summer, only making 1mill - he could fit under many teams cap I'd guess.

It's really more like a trade freeze....teams can still send down/call up players, and waivers are still in play. At least it should be fun on Monday when the freeze lifts.

Couldn't even grab a low round pick for him?

He'll be dealt to a Western Conference team! Far far away from the Habs. Far away. Like really far away.

Sure they could... but why get a late round pick when you can get nothing?

Maybe they are just trying to sneak him through waivers...roll the dice and try to keep him.

I think that the stras now think a couple of things. first, they are not getting enough for Turco. They also think they maybe could make the playoffs and that Turco gives them the best chance to win now given Lethonen has not played in a year. third, lehtonen was a long term idea not necessarily for this year.

frankly, Turco has not been great giving up asoft one here and there but he can get really hot as he is now . He moves the puck better than almost anyone except for maybe Brodeur. The defense in front of him is really bad and on ateam like Philly or wash he would be a difference maker.

I think the stars are relunctant to throw in the towel and he stays. Still think teams are making a mistake though. He can get really hot.

As for Auld, if he is claimed fine otherwise whoever would want Turco would likely either want to dump their starter or throw in their backup.

Has everyone completely abandoned the idea that the Stars trade Turco and get back a goalie in return in addition to a player/pick???

For example:

Hartnell + Boucher = Turco
