So they'll run with Turco and Lehtonen I guess.

Auld is good, I loved him when he was here in Ottawa. He's as streaky as anyone in the NHL, but he's a great teammate (by all accounts), works hard and has great size and agility.

I wish him the best, he's a good guy and a good tender. Someone will get lucky in claiming him.

Seems like 2 things are possible

The Stars believe they can make playoffs and will keep Turco for that and the market for Turco was non-existant

Given the Stars present financial situation it is hard to see them taking on 11.1 million dollars in salary over the next 3 years

Maybe because Gumby Lethonen is the most fragile player in the league?

Yeah, the Stars must have had teams interested, but only if they were to add salary and the Stars definitely don't want that right now. Still, such a strange move...

Homer has stated multiple times that the Flyers have zero interest in Marty Turco.

No matter how you slice it, there is no way to predict how healthy Lehtonen will be. You need some sort of insurance just in case his glass groin shatters into pieces. I guess with the way Turk's has been playing lately, Stars management is comfortable with riding Turco into the playoffs if Lehtonen were to injure himself again.

Turco stays:

Quote:
GM Joe Nieuwendyk, who is traveling to Cornell to have his number retired this weekend, confirmed that Turco will likely stick with the team.

“I don’t want to ever say never, but we would have to be blown away with a great offer to deal him now,’’ Nieuwendyk said. “We feel this is the best move for our team going forward, so that’s the plan right now.’’

Auld, who makes $1 million this season, will go through waivers. If he is not picked up, he will be sent through recall waivers and teams will get a shot at him for half his remaining salary. If no team picks him up, he will be assigned to the Texas Stars. It is not expected that he will return to practice with the team unless there is an injury.

wish someone claims auld and hopes he gets another shot of being a backup or starter heres what i think next season

if toskala leaves to europe

auld backup for hillar

if lalime leaves auld has a chance in buffalo

if legace goes to anther team auld can go to carolina

if budaj goes to another team in europe auld can go to the avs and be backup

if osgood retires auld can go to the red wings and be a mentor for howard

if edmonton claims auld they can send duybuk to the minors where auld can be backup or starter

if new york rangers claim him they can send there minor backups and make auld permanent backup

if emery goes away in free agent and lethigion goes to minors auld can be a starter in philly

if san jose wants they can trade there backup and claim auld and make him a backup for good

if i were vancouver get rid of raycroft and put auld back where he belongs vancouver baby

ahl needs goaltenders auld can go there

lets hope for auld he gets the best cheers

Someone should claim him. He's a decent tender, just slow and has poor lateral mobility. If you leave him out to dry you're going to get lit up. But he makes a good back-up.

To DAL: Huet and Sopel plus 2nd 2010 conditional 1st if the hawks win the cup

To CHI: Turco

Dallas gets a pick for turco and im not sure but i think when everything is added up the salary is approximently the same so then next year Chicago doesnt have Sopel and Huet on the books and they can either use Neimi (sp) and Crawford or go out and sign/trade and get another goalie at a decent contract and the hawks have a goalie for their playoff run. What do you think?

Auld isn't as good as Boucher or Leighton, Nor is he a #1. Emery will be back in philly next season and signed for a low price because of his injury this year. I want no part of Auld. Best fit for him would be Calgary. They've needed a backup for years.

He would be a perfect fit in Calgary.

Kind of ironic, I just picked him up on waivers on NHL10 with my Flames be a gm, haha

I was thinking this too. Their backup is garbage and they despretly need a backup imo

So, the Flyers leave themselves minus a gritty forward and backup goalie, but pick up an overpriced goalie on the down side of his career....(when they could pick up Auld, who is just as good for a whole lot cheaper??).

I'm not following.

Yeah, like we're going to bend over to help Chicago with their cap issues and at the same time take on huge unwanted salary. Use common sense, please.

Turco's big contract is off the Stars books forever this summer, we are not adding Huet's.

I think it would make sense for Edmonton to pick him up for the remainder of the year.
