That's a perfectly fine thing to think.

Does it matter if he's right? At this moment the Russians have to be the favorites, based on play. Luongo is awesome, but he is being asked to beat four all-star teams in a row. The Canadian defence includes two dudes that don't belong. If Canada gets down a goal early it'll be tough.

Time to trade Ehrhoff and Kesler, land 2 first round picks, and sign kovalchuk in off season

Not that I particularly disagree with you, but...

1) The Germans are hardly an all-star team, so I think 3 in a row is more appropriate... (Russia, Sweden, USA/Finland/etc)

2) The Canadian defense as a whole is still superior to that of the Russians, at least on paper. Canada may have a couple of under-performing players, sure, but have you seen Doughty, Keith, and Weber? These three - Doughty in particular - have been ridiculously good. Play those three 25+ minutes each, and Canada will have no problems with its defense. Plus I'd rather have Seabrook and Pronger than Tyutin and Kalinin......

Not surprised or insulted this game could go either way. Going to be a battle and everyone has their opinions.

Hell I have all the faith in the world, but I'm not sure Canadas gonna win.

What would he know compared to the expert analysts on HF Forums?

Sour grapes or tongue-in-cheek?

Opinion aside, I still think he is rapidly becoming a premier D-Man, in the NHL.

Two-way, durable, great skater, PP quarterback, what more could we ask for?

Too bad he was surrounded with marginal players (except Goc & Sturm) in this tournament.

Yeah he's a freakin beaut. I can't believe we actually got someone to give up anything for Patrick White, let alone Ehrhoff!

Too bad he's dead to me now.

I was sure I'd open this thread and read Ehrhoff would be out with an injury for the rest of the season.

This I can live with.

Ehrhoff is just bitter over that whole D-day thing.

Why are so many people favoring the Russians in this one? Team Canada, player for player, has more talent and depth at each position than the entire Russian team. Even Ovechkin is offset by Crosby for the most part. Canada has a better defense, a better goalie, Luongo is in his home arena and they are playing at home! Russia did not look particularly great in the preliminary round either, losing to the Slovaks, beating a cream puff Latvian team and winning 4-2 against the Czechs. All this talk about how Canada should fear the Russians has me shaking my heads. If I were Russia, I'd be far more concerned about the game than Canada.

As the TSN panel noted both teams fear and respect one another equally and neither has yet played up to their potential.
