S.Kost has incredible vision but tends to play too much cute and definitely lacks strength, I find he plays too much on the soft side and if you recall PG press conference correctly, he wants his guys to play a north south type of game, what isnt exactly S.Kost cup of coffey.. S.Kost is still pretty young, can improve his overall game but I think Boyes for S.Kost is something that makes alot of sense personally and I wouldnt be surprised if it happens cause I think we would be the clear winner of that deal short term.. Gauthier still believe in this team and wanna make the playoffs so..
I dont get the Sergei is playing too soft. One guy that is not scared to cut to the net is Sergei. How many times did we see Sergei cutting from the face-off circle directly to the net and putting himself in a good shooting spot. A player that is not scared to get his nose dirty is not what I call soft.

Plekanec is not the grittiest player either but he still manage to produce at a good rate.

I do agree that we definetaly need bigger body though to go far in the playoff though but I dont think we should get rid of Sergei so soon. That guy is full of potential and lets see what he can do with his brother first.

Yuck, rather keep Sergei than go for a pretty much another Ryder. Do want Horton but I doubt we have the assets.

just mindless rumors, i hope...

though I wouldn't mind Horton in the lineup, I'm not keen on parting with S.Kost just yet. The kid's game has the potential to be great, not necessarily as outright skilled as his brother, but he seems to have a much better feeling of the game and plays with some solid "spunk".

i'd want to see him get at least one more offseason to show the maturity he needs to take the next step, if he does figure out how to be a pro from may-august, he could come to camp ready for a permanent top 6 role... would hate to see him do that for another team, especially since he'll still be quite cheap for the next few seasons.

no interest in brad boyes at all, that would be a step in the wrong direction. nice player, and decent contract (even if he is struggling this season), but he is the furthest thing from physical, and we really don't need another of the "same" player for our top 6.

but packaging D'agostini and Maxwell as part of a deal to land a physical top 6 player... that's the kind of move we need to be thinking of!

BTW do you have the link to where this comes from?

Will you guys still want to trade Halak instead of Price if he ever beats Canada alone tomorrow?

Boyes is a better version of Ryder, no thanks.

If Pierre brings in anymore trade deadline rentals for our average team I'm gonna snap.

According to posters on this forum, Halak can't beat "The big 3" of Pittsburgh, Washington, Jersey.

Yet, he's beaten Russia and the Swedes, two heavily favoured to finish in the Top 3 and likely contend for Gold. If he beats Canada (which I hope he doesnt) they will find some other reason to put him down and still say Price is better.

People just see "Drafted 5th overall" and "Drafted 291st overall" and it's automatically a fore gone conclusion that the player drafted first is better. Classic HF mentality/stupidity.

It'd be hard to argue with getting either one. Good targets if we can pry them loose.

Horton please... No Boyes!

Clowe/Callahan/Hartnell wouldn't be bad either

if this team makes a team, it should only be for a top 4 forward, if we can't get that, then stay pat

this team needs a A1 young gun on the wing, not many around, but if we can't land one, wait

I like Boyes and think he'd be a good buy-low candidate as he's having a down year (IIRC he was awesome with Cammalleri at the World Juniors), but our top 6 is solid when healthy and it is our bottom 6 that needs to be fixed.

Hammer would have to go the other way. Or at least Spacek as a dump. Boyes is making $4M per :S

You guys don`t watch hockey much if you wouldn`t do sergei + prospect for Boyes... He is freaking awesome goes to the net , scores goals , exactly what we need.

I have to agree, actually.

Boyes is young, has a great contract if he can recapture his 30+ goals form (and a tolerable one if he manages 20 or more), and would be a nice fit on the right-wing of one of our top two lines.

Yes, we already have a good Top Six... when we're completely healthy.

Which is never...

Having 7 good options for the Top 6 means that you can suffer a key injury up front and not miss a beat.

If we're ever completely healthy, we can play whichever of the 7 is struggling the most on the 3rd line.

Sergei, Maxwell, and D'Ago for Boyes and a pick or prospect... I'd do that pretty fast, honestly. Well, as long as I could dump Hammer or Spacek's contract elsewhere.

Partly because I don't think Sergei will ever completely flourish with Martin coaching him.

Earth to EJ, Halak is RFA, not a UFA.

Maybe he got mistaken with Plex.
You're right on the money! EJ Hradek lazily didn't do his homework. We won't lose Halak for nothing.

1) 1 pretty penny sais you`ve never actually seen boyes play.
2) If you think the asking price for both players will be the same you are dead wrong.

Have a nice day?

Yeah **** Brad Boyes and his 43 and 33 goal seasons. I want 2 goal Sergei over him.

I would love to get my hands on Booth or Horton. Boyes...it would be ok I guess. I'd have to see him play with our boys before I label him a "Ryder". He did get 40 goals not too long ago.

Wait, are people actually saying they wouldn't trade Sergei to get Brad Boyes?
