I could really care less about the Olympics, but I hope that wasn't some kind of stab at the USSR as cheaters. Coming from an American that would be a little rich.
You wanna point to examples? I don't remember our woman with a thicker moustache than Burt Reynolds. I don't recall the US or it's allies blatantly CHEATING by putting time on the clock illegally. I don't remember the U.S. judges cheating the Canadians in Salt Lake.
Hell, I haven't even heard a peep about the U.S. putting a stupid looney on your ice.
The Olympics cannot be about a particular country 'Winning' them. That's ridiculous. The whole concept of the 'medal rankings' is ridiculous. An athlete from Germany no more embodies the country as a whole than they would if they were a spokesperson for Coca Cola. We wouldn't think 'oh, athletes drinking Coca Cola won the most medals, Coca Cola is leading the Olympics.'
Why do you guys care so much about "winning" the Olympics by any measure? Like, do you think the rest of the world is sitting around impressed?
Without looking it up, do you know who "won" the 2002 Games? Who "won" the 1980 Summer Games? Do you care? Does anyone?
If Canada "won" the Olympics, I'd forget about it by March 2. If the USA "won"... I'd still forget about it by March 2.
Oh oh, I remember the 2002. Norway came in first with one gold medal more than Germany yet 9 medals less
and the 80 games are sooooo easy. It was the Soviets. Americans didn't participate in Summer and in winter they got the most too. Always the Soviets until GUS came along^^
