Leafs have numbers on D (seven NHL skaters right now) and even on the farm if they move some players (Oreskovic, Mikus even Frogren if they need him). But really the only likely player to be moved is Exelby from the back end and that means Finger slides into a full-time top-six spot.
The Leafs could move three of four bodies from the forward group, and the really don't have much on the system to bring up that aren't already on the team (Stalberg, Hanson, Bozak).
It would raise some eyebrows though if they did put a claim in, but I can't see it.
I can't really see it either, But with Komo down for the rest of the year and with Exelby and Kaberle perhaps(who knows) gone aswell.
That leaves the depth chart like
Phaneuf-Beauchemin
Gunnarsson-Schenn
????-Finger
I wouldn't bring Mikus up yet, and we know what Phil and Frogren do. I'd rather take a chance on a D-man with some good Offensive ability liike Syvret especially if Kaberle does get dealt.
I would honestly claim him if I was the oilers. He's not anything but a bottom pairing defenseman but it would keep us from having to call up a young dman if we dealt a dman at the deadline.

Agreed and he won't win us games single handily so he's dive friendly
Not that it means anything in the grand scheme of things but he and Rob Schremp are good buddies that played together in London and spent some time in the AHL together as well. He would be a nice addition to the Isles and their 2nd PP unit with Schremp.

Well Garth didn't pick up Lashoff, even though he was successful under Gordon in Providence. I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see.
I would love to add him though, our defense is atrocious and another young body couldn't hurt.

He is still relatively young and when healthy could be a guy that plays against opposing 3rd/4th lines while also chipping in on the PP. Good call about Lashoff, that said perhaps there was a reason from their past that Gordon didn't want him?

Well I've heard mixed reports about Lashoff, and Boston seemed to put him in every trade proposal before the 2009 trade deadline. The biggest hit I've heard about him is that he doesn't try hard enough. I'm not sure if they just wanted to trade him because he had value or that Hunwick beat him for a roster spot in Boston.
