Inbetween the celebrating I felt really crushed seeing the faces of some of your players.

What a stupidly amazing game.

Hey, we weren't even supposed to medal. I'm content, just sucks we had to lose in OT.

my mom just came back from her sewing circle. she and 4 other old ladies were watching the game. that probably doesn't seem odd in some places, but i'm in san antonio, tx and none of them know about hockey.

As a Sabres fan I actually had tears coming from my face at his reaction to the goal and getting his medal, as well as Parise's.

Congrats to USA

USA = heart. That's a fact.

I'm proud of this team USA assembled. In my mind, they're still the better team, just didn't win a gold plated medal. Why? Series is tied 1-1 and played on Canadian soil, played through Canadian Refs, and had to deal with the Canadian crowd and arrogance.

What's important is how well this team represented America. They showed the most heart, determination and tenacity out of any Olympics hockey team.

Clearly team USA won respect being the underdogs and still gave Canada fits (the team that was suppose to be so much better than USA - and wasn't).

USA proved that we have a better WJC and now with this young Olympics team proved we have a slightly better team than Canada. USA have a bright future! America will produce more 1st tier player within the next 4 or 5 years. Book it.

Respect to USA!

Haters, please don't post.

What can I say.....welcome to what it is being a Finn?

I know how you guys feel, but that team is young and they will be able to compete even better in the future. Silver medal does not feel like much after the game, but it is a huge accomplishment and never easy to get.

Maybe from some fans, but i'll give credit where it's due and team USA definitely deserved it.
The only question mark in my mind about the U.S. team coming in was the defense and they stepped it up and played well.
You gave us all we could handle, and it was a great game.

Hell of a game, even was somewhat leaning towards the US out of immense respect for their performance. There had to be a winner however whilst it may be bittersweet, second place for a team thought to be sixth at best is fantastic.

To our fellow hockey brothern for an epic game which could not have taken place otherwise.

I know they could taste gold. But still, you guys got silver and we weren't even going to ask that much of you. Smile. You did us proud.
I can't say that I blame them. Silver is the worst medal to "win". You don't "win" the silver medal, you lose the gold. That's all they are thinking about right now as an athlete. Even Bronze the team that receives the medal wins the game as opposed to getting it in a losing effort.

Congratulations to the American team and their fans. They played a great tournament and this last game really showed just how good they were. While they lost, they showed tremendous heart and I am hard pressed to think of a time when I have respected an opponent more than I do the U.S.

Agreed. But a lot can happen in 4 years... for the US, an older (?slower) Miller, no Rafalski, Langenbruner, Drury (OK maybe he's no longer "clutch"). Canada will still be strong with Getzlaf, Nash and Golden Boy peaking. And Russia will have home ice...

I hope we can all settle down now

I want to see what they do without a goalie playing way over his head.

USA was gritty and played the underdog role well I guess, but I'm not that impressed.

Awesome tournament by the US!
Kudos to Burke and Wilson who took lots of heat for their roster decision and certainly proved many people wrong!
Kudos to the players who played their hearts out there and were one goal short of taking it all!
Lastly, kudos to Miller who was unequivocally the best player in the tournament and cemented his status as the world's best goalie this season!

I couldn't be prouder of our boys. Not even picked to medal and they came that close to taking gold. They played their hearts out and have nothing to be ashamed of.

I cant wait for 2014 to get some revenge. There are a lot of American prospects that will be ready by then. Oshie, JVR, C. Wilson, Bogosian, Fowler(maybe who know?)....and not to mention half the guys on the USA squad now are really young and developing.

What a team already though, who would have thought USA would have lost to Canada in overtime in the Gold Medal game? I'm so proud of this team, and although disappointed that they lost, I cant be too mad about this cause this team accomplished a lot more than i thought they would.
