Russia can have fun if the NHLers don't go winning their fake gold medal when players like Ovechkin and Kovalchuk play against college kids and then they'll act as if they're the greatest hockey power in the world.

The Canadian one is beautiful -- I've already ordered one for my daughter's fiance for his birthday next month.

a gold medal is a gold medal no matter who you win it against

Well when the country acts as if they beat the best players in the world that gold medal is not in fact what they make it out to be.

Richie at his best with the takeaway/assist and worst with the missed empty net.

He better leave that flub in Vancouver.

I've been very anti-Olympics, and I stand by that, but it seems to me like this was a DREAM finish for NHL marketing.

I know that I'll be watching ratings very carefully for the rest of the season and postseason. If this doesn't have an impact, I think we can rule out NHL participation in Sochi.

Ha. Hilarious.

This text from TFLN.com sums up my feeling regarding Canada's Gold Medal.

Quote:
(940): Canada: barely better than America at a sport they invented.
Not to mention they played every game IN CANADA. Home field advantage the whole time.

Like I said previously. As much as I wanted Russia to win, I was not suprised that they didnt. This always happens, in juniors as well.

They already said, even if Bettman says they can't, they will, and face whatever penalties they have to to be there.

Did the the NHLPA say that? I thought that just a few Russian players said that.

But will not allowing the NHL'rs to go have a negative impact on the NHL? Even if it does not help them, I am sure they will allow them to go if the backlash would be negative.

I have only heard it from Kovalchuk and Ovechkin, maybe a few others.
