Just got back from Yonge St. It's crazy. So many people. Impromtu Canadian anthems all over the place. Chants and songs. We walked up Yonge from the lakeshore and you can hear honking and sirens throughout the city as they echo off of all the buildings. Really cool stuff. People were still streaming off of the Subway into the square when we left.

If anyone lives in Toronto, I'd suggest you go down and check it out.

glad it was USA vs Canada because i really would be pissed if RUSSIA or Sweden or Slovakia...anyway congrats to Team Canada..you had most gold medals..(USA had most overall, but i think more gold is better IMO) and hopefully we can meet again in 2014 (though who knows if its NHL players or the World Juniors at Olympics..we will see..it would be nice to see most of this current team Canada defend the Crown in Russia..)

Not often hockey can do that.

this is crazy, nobody cares this much about anything down here, let alone a sport haha.

are there people in Canada who don't like/can't stand hockey?

there are definitely people like that, but when it comes to TEAM canada... even as someone from tdot who prefers basketball > hockey... the support is unanimous.

most girls...
i was watching the end of the game with my roomate... she hates anything that has to do with hockey and yet she managed to sit down and enjoy the game like a good girl.
pretty impressive the hype of the game that even no fans were watching.

Sort of wish I was at home in Toronto to experience this but instead I'm in Bahamas. I'm not complaining!

There is a fan of the sport and the fan of the country. 1980, people who knew NOTHING of hockey cheered and celebrated US v. USSR. It was a political thing. The US was down and this was a pick me up. this game was a pick me up for Canada. Let's face it, there is a rivalry with the US and they won.

Let's not go that far. I was in Boston after the Red Sox finally won the World Series for the first time in 86 years and it was an absolute madhouse. The police had pre-greased light poles. And as for N.O. after this SuperBowl, the french quarter..but this is an entire nation partying and I don't think the U.S. has done anything like this since 1980....

That said, Canada is doing what it should, partying like there's no tomorrow!

Just got back from Downtown Vancouver.

Wow..just amazing. I wish I could go back, but I'm way too tired.
