Holy **** they closed Younge Street (celebration reports)
JUST got back from Dundas Square. ****ING EPIC!!! Holy **** dude. The party just ended at like 1 AM. They reopened the street and there are still cars going by honking. ****ing amazing. There are a **** load of bars located on that intersection (Yonge/Dundas) so everyone was IN the bars for the first two periods then headed outside to catch the 3rd. My god it was sooo good. When Crosby scored there was just a ******** of yelling and hugging and then a bunch of us just rushed the stage over the barricades and hugged it out and chanted a whole bunch of ****. We sang Oh Canada every 5 minutes. Then everyone just headed on the the intersection and had a huge ass mosh pit in the middle of the street. AND THIS LASTED TILL 1 AM. Unbelievable. I'm ****ing gassed, I broke my phone and I'm going to crash.

Peace folks! CA-NA-DA!!
best drunk speller ever, OH CANADA indeed, we can still drunkely celebrate with a keyboard
As a Canadian currently living in the States, I can confirm this. It's sad and strange - it really does feel like people just don't care this much about anything down here. The feeling extends to concerts, sporting events, etc. Nothing unites this way, there's little space for such raw emotion, and people are always just a little bit guarded.
Until we put a BLU-82 into Iraqi soil. thanxs Georgie!
Its unfortunate that US doesnt have anything that would bring a country to the streets. Would a world cup win do that? This is pretty much our world cup win.
I've read about VJ day...when we (and you) defeated Japan in WW2 but other than that no...
Nevertheless, congratulations on a great men’s hockey victory and a special kudos to your closing ceremony for the 2010 Olympics...that was a job well done! Awesome in fact.. Seriously.
party still going on in vancouver and toronto and the rest of canada? pictures and videos look unreal
Yeah it's still alive here in Vancouver. It's 3am in Toronto so I doubt people are still on the streets with work tomorrow.
This really is going to be a day I won't forget for a long time. My throat kills from screaming so much and my head hurts from hearing others scream so much but it was well worth it.

i hope you didnt meant the music part ?
that was brutal having Neil Young as the opening act of all those looser....gawd
i was working downtown when we won, some dude was running around in his underpants and you could hear horns and people yelling till like 8:30 from my office
these pictures are awesome. It sucks to know that even if USA won, we wouldnt be celebrating this much. Congrats Canada, while Im sad my country lost, Im glad as a hockey fan to see what the madness would be like when CAN won so win win for me.
Enjoy the moment, I hope to be able to experience something like most members on this board had tonight.
Just got back from downtown Vancouver... Insanity is the only word I can use to describe it, just thousands upon thousands of people.
Had to walk across the Granville street bridge wearing my Pittsburgh Crosby jersey... So many high fives... so many hugs... Just an amazing thing to be apart of.
Then went and totally took advantage of an amazing off-the-beaten-trail bar that had $3 shots.

Got back from downtown Vancouver, which was absolutely mental. The amount of people, the dancing, the constant chanting, signs, random street hockey games, people could barely move at Robson and Granville - took pretty much an entire hour to walk some 200m. Complete and utter insanity. I will never witness anything like it again in my life, of that I'm sure.
I also saw spiderman climbing out of a third floor window, a bunch of drunk idiots climbing trees, roofs with no barriers, lamp posts, bus stop roofs, the glass roof of future shop which looked like it was going to collapse with three guys on one glass pane, and it was ALL AWESOME.
This is a picture taken a few minutes ago of downtown Vancouver right now. It doesn't do it justice but still pretty crazy crowd at this time with work/school next day.
