Give me Hamhuis and Ellis!

Don't trade Marshall or Lehtivuori though.

I could live with Bourdon and Morrisson/DeSerres

My prediction: Flyers do nothing at the deadline. Our prospect cupboard is bare, we have no valuable picks for the forseeable future, we are up against the cap. For the next five years we will be trying to build this team from the third round of the draft, with the odds and ends goalies we can get for cheap. No way are we a cup contender with the addition of a soon to be UFA with what we can afford to give up.

Look for a fan favorite to be moved. I could see a guy like Asham/Powe/Lappy being thrown into a deal because we don't really have anything else to trade. No picks, relatively weak on tradeable prospects.

Marcel Goc and Manny Malholtra are making 1.25 combined this season.

We have a cap hit of 1.375 from the Jones debacle for a guy that isn't even on our team.

You do the math.

I keep thinking in the back of my mind, "Who would like Gagne, and of those teams, where would Gagne agree to waive his NTC?"

Honestly, what do you think the chances of a guy like Gagne or Hartnell is to get moved. I feel like fans LOVE throwing them into trade ideas, but management has no plan to move them.

The next 18 months will have large ramifications for the next 5+ years just due to the salary cap situation, and lack of picks in the short-term.

Given Gagne's short tenure left on this contract...it's possible he'd be open to moving to a team interested in extending him. Possible. It could go the other way, though...no desire to move twice, and just wait until UFA if the Flyers aren't going to re-sign him (highly likely, IMO).

Hartnell...I just don't see him waiving it. He seems to like it here too much.

I also think he adds important elements to this club that we will severely miss if he's dealt. He has some bad warts (some of which can be fixed, IMO), but he also does a lot of good.

Slim, but moving a contract like Gagne's would really help our financial situation. It's pie-in-the-sky thinking, I know.

to get both, I would think the price may be Kevin Marshall if the Preds think twice about taking Parent.
If you want both its going to cost another roster player as well(Powe?)
Can the Flyers even trade for Hamhuis without giving up a roster player, even with Syvret and Cote gone.
I probably could live with it, if they traded Marshall and resigned Hamhuis to his similar cap hit he has now (2 million)
This is a guy we really, really need back there. stay at home guy. solid defensively and durable.

I've never seen Dan Ellis play, where's he at in terms of development and readiness to see a regular starting role?

Being honest, I dont see it as a HUGE need. Our defense isnt looking at bad. This is unless Homer thinks Krajicek will start sucking, Parent isnt ready for anything past the 3rd pairing, and Bartulis is hurt.

Keep your fingers crossed it's going to be a bumpy ride.

We have limited options as far as what to give in a trade... if they want Parent, I'd be open to it...and I think he has the potential to be very good, just don't trust him physically.
