Absolutely. His goal was one of the biggest in Canadian hockey history.

That goal has for sure. Crosby himself will be one day, but just how big has yet to be determined.

I'm naming my first born Crosby!

Not really, but I'm sure some people will because of this.

Agreed on the goal, it is what every Canadian kid dreams about. Gold on the the line in OT, you win it for the country. Doesn't get anymore storybook than that.

As for Crosby, this is his first Olympics, way to early.

I think the goal alone makes him a legend. At the very least, it's a goal people will remember for a long time. But the goal, combined with his overall play? How can you disagree?

I think Crosby has the potential to be a greater hockey hero than Henderson. That goal is the summit series goal of our generation, plus Crosby will accomplish much more in his NHL career than Henderson did.

The gravity of this goal probably hasn't even been realized yet. The clutchest goal on the biggest stage in hockey history.

Sorry but when talking about the goal itself..... Henderson's was bigger in my opinion.

The politics of the time, the tension in the series, the armed Soviet soldiers in the arena at the games held in Russia..... and the fact that it capped of an 8 games series not 1 game.

Uhh.. You are getting it twisted. Every Canadian knows the name of Paul Henderson. The goal made him a legend just like this latest goal ensures Crosby will be a legend for all time.

I would have a hard time believing any one team has been under more pressure, with an incredible build up, and one player in particular.

With the whole world watching, basically the whole country watching, he sealed the game.

I stand by my statement.

Playing in communist Russia, armed soldiers behind your bench... Crosby has faced nothing like that.

I don't expect to change the mind of a Crosby fan, but you should do some reading into the politics and world climate during the Summit Series.

That's not the point. The point is because of the goal Paul Henderson is a LEGEND. People aren't just remembering the goal. They are remembering the man who dominated the soviets with the tying and game winning goal in a decisive 8th game.

I have to agree with Ryan Macleod on this; Henderson's goal definatley made Henderson a canadian legend - most believe it's a shame he isn't in the HHOF for that one goal. Actually he had a few GWG's that series.

Sometimes 1 goal or 1 great game is all it take for "legend" to take hold - Crosby had that goal in that game. He is a legend.

P.S - Russia '72 was still bigger. The younger generation can't even come close to realizing the signifigance of that series.

I am well aware of the politics and world climate...it isn't exactly a historical secret. I am not downplaying the significance of '72, it just wasn't as hyped, or as watched as these games. You can say that playing it in the communist Soviet Union was high pressure, and it was, but I doubt playing at home with the pressure these guys were under was any less.
