Me neither, I consider Iggy & arguably Sakic above him as an "Canadian Olympic Legend" (and not just cause of stats). However, he's still young and hopefully NHL participation in the Olympics continues and he can cement his legacy further.
So the fact that he was on the cover of an American magazine that pays little attention to hockey means it was all him?!?!?
If Canada had lost that game, people would be saying Canada lost... not Sidney Crosby lost..... you man crush on Sidney is beginning to blur your vision.
Ugh, your Crosby hate is so transparent. It isn't like I said he dominated the tournament and was easily the best and most important player on the team. It is impossible to have a legitimate conversation about a legit topic with somebody who will hate on the guy regardless.
If Canada had lost, and Crosby had zero points, all we would be hearing was that Crosby was invisible for the last 3 games (even though that would be ridiculous), and he would be the lightning rod of criticism. He was would getting eaten alive right now.
The fact that Crosby GOT that kind of attention by an AMERICAN magazine that pays little attention to hockey says everything that needs to be said.
I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but really...
Being born in '85, I wasn't around for the '72 Summit Series, and I can never even fathom what winning that was like. And I won't try. However, I was around for 2010, and this game, and that goal will likely be among my fondest memories.

Show me my Crosby hate? Simply said his goal isn't comparible to Paul Henderson's of 72.
Oh yeah, I also said he hasn't reached the level of Gretzky and Lemieux yet.....
Don't "hate" the guy but clearly don't have your mancrush either.
you are gonna deny these unheard of credentials he already has at the age of 22?
No sir, you said he's mentioned in the same breathe as Gretzky and Lemieux. Disagree with that part. He must likely will be someday, just a little soon for me, that's all.
I have big one of his biggest fans but man I can't wait for the season to start again so everyone can go back to their unconditional love of Ovechkin and hate for Crosby.
I think his legend began in these games. Let's see how great it grows..

But he was compared to Espisito and Clarke. Phil ****ing Espisito man..
and now no one even mentions his name. If Crosby died tomorrow, people would always remember him but he'd be a "what if" legend.
Yeah, kind of like how scouts compare every highly-touted young 2-way rookie center to Yzerman and Sakic nowadays.
Apparently, the difference between actually winning scoring titles, MVPs, and championships, and having the potential to do so after one 44 point season is indistinguishable to you.
I think Crosby is on the right track. He is perhaps not in the league of Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr but if he continues on this track he can become an Yzerman, Sakic type of guy.
As for Henderson in the Summit Series...he played a huge role in that series, not just the series winner.
Henderson
7 goals and 10 points in 8 games
Games winners in Games 6, 7 and 8
Led series in Goals tied with Espo and Yakushev
So while Crosby scored the Golden Goal which will always be remembered and ultimately will go down as a more significant player over the wholes of their respective careers... his role in these Olympic Games was not quite on the same level as what Henderson did in '72...
