IIHF World ChampionshipDiscuss International Tournaments like the WJC, Olympics, and World Cup, as they take place, or discuss past tournaments. performances.
It's not just that we were watching amazing hockey, but it was nations competing against each other. Now it's back to Pittsburgh competing against the likes of Atlanta. It all seems so inconsequential now.
Every Olympics I take for granted, it gives me something to watch for two weeks, and I get to see sports I would never see otherwise. Through the Olympics I've fallen in love with handball, curling, water polo, and even speed skating. At least when the Winter Games are over, we have the NHL to go back to. When the Summer Games are over, there's nothing.
im gonna miss it so much.. it just feels stupid that tomorrow i am going to have to try to get excited for toronto vs. carolina
and after a 3 hour session when i was hoping for kessel, wilson, and burke to eff everything up, now i am back to hoping to god that they can turn this train wreck around in the near future.
It's an empty feeling every time I see that flame go out.
For me the olympics are part of something bigger than a hockey tournament, curling tournament, ski meet, etc. It's a global festival of sports, where all likes come to go at it. I mean we have a downhill skier from Ghana, and people from Maroco, Alger, Iran, and even Finland. None of these people are there to win gold, but without them, the olympic celebration wouldn't be complete.
I guess that is why I get pissed about Bettman and the GM's are ****ing around with the issue of letting the guys go and play. To me, it comes across as complete and total disrespect and highlights everything that is wrong with NA Pro-sports, money first, sports second. I bet they sell their mothers if the price was right.
I know pro-sports = money is reality, but I don't like it, and I hate the fact that it is hockey that is embarrasing itself to the entire world again. Nothing is sacred to these cheap prostitutes.
I agree with the poster wishing for less teams and more parody in the league. If you really want to sell hockey in the states. Don't make more teams. Make less with better quality hockey. Tinker with the rules a little and you have a great product to offer the people.
Hi from the rest of the world not caring. Here in Laos noone cares and its kinda sweet.
idid not watch any olympics but heard it was crap. was it good hockey?

No. I watched the first period of USA vs. Switzerland the first time they played, thats it. I have no interest in all star teams, add in the nationalism, yuck.

+1.
couldn't care less about olympic hockey. glad the NHL is back
I'm bummed that the party downtown is over as well as the unity that comes with the nationalism. That was definitely fun. I'm just eager to see how the Olympics have affected the Canucks and if they feel like they have anything to porve.
