I dont know how you guys could pass up Tampa's 1st if it was offered at the deadline.

And honestly, I doubt Tampa offers it at the draft due to the fact there is a lot riding on the Lightning making the playoffs this year (including upper management jobs).

He'd be perfect on Lecavalier's wing. How about Carter Ashton + a 2nd?

If anybody offered Bowman a top ten pick for Versteeg, Versteeg would be gone in a heartbeat.

That being said, I doubt he gets dealt until after the season is over. And then, I doubt he gets more than a second rounder at best.

I doubt they trade Ashton. I think they move the 1st before him. But who knows...

I'd think a top-ten pick would have more value than Ashton. I don't see the Lightning giving up that pick for Steeger,so that's the rationale for the counter.

Well you might be right...I guess it depends on if the organization thinks Ashton is better than what they would get this year at 9-15.

Like I said earlier, the 1st for Versteeg straight up is too steap for Tampa, so I would guess that there would be a pick or prospect head back Tampa's way.

I guess it all depends on how bad they want the kid. My guess is that they really want a good player to play along side Vinny badly. What better option is there out there for the Lightning than a 23 yr old Versteeg? If they trade a 1st or a high prospect it might as well be for a young talented kid.

Tampa Bay doesn't have a 2nd this year. It went to Boston - Recchi - Lashoff - Karsums deal

Huet + Versteeg for Nittymaki + 1st rounder in 2011

Hawks pick up a 1st (Draft is a bit weak) and a goalie of equal caliber as Huet who's contract expires.

Please,,,,,,, Mr Lawton!

Add Tanguay. Maybe he helps our PP. Then no doubt I do it.

You guys want St Louis and Stamkos too?

You must be kidding me. I wouldnt trade a 1st for Versteeg, especially our first, let alone all these other assets you guys want for a salary dump goalie coming back to us.

Please.

ITT: Draft picks are again wildly overrated by HFBoards.

I don't think a goalie would be involved here...Versteeg would be a good pick up though

Unless the Lightning overpaid it would make no sense to trade then until after season.

I would hope we wouldn't trade Versteeg unless it improves Hawks. Only area we really need major improvement is goal

I'm fine with trading Niittymaki but taking Huet back would be a deal killer.

All they really did here is rewrite an article written by the Tampa Tribune. It required no knowledge about hockey.

I'm on board with that- you want him for a top ten draft pick in a deep draft... he's yours.

There is a certain Hawk poster who's is a big defender of Tallon who earlier today said Bowman wouldn't accept a top 10 for him

I wonder at times if he may in fact be Fail Dale!

Your hate for Tallon is completely unwarranted. Say what you will but he drafted well, and he traded well. Kane and Toews were not gimme picks. There are no gimme picks. We could've ended up with Kyle Turris and Peter Mueller.

Kane and Toews were gimme picks,,,

And outside of Hjalmarsson and Toews his 1st 2 drafts were awful. Add in his ? 2007 draft after Kane (Aliu has potential though)

And I see you didn't include his free agent history nor his resigning history

Tallon inherited the foundation of a strong team. Add the give me picks and you have a great up and coming team.

And I will praise his trading ,,,, He was pretty darn good at that outside of the Babchuk/Richmond and Wiz for Pahlsson deals.

Versteeg seems like the perfect player for Stamkos. Versteeg - Stamkos - St.Louis would be sweet..

I'm gonna hate seeing Versteeg go, but I hope when he gets traded he goes somewhere he can flourish. I'd love to see Steeger on the wing with Stamkos and St. Louis. He'll be an even greater player when he gets some real talented scoring threats with him (and not Byfuglien and Madden).

Tallons high draft picks were so slotted accordingly for him he had no choice but to read the name.

He also busted out on Barker when he had the option to trade down, Toews was a gimmie pick and rumors still run around he wanted Staal. Kane was the best offensive talent in his draft, there was no way Tallon was going to take Turris or JVR, both players are nowhere near as gifted as Kane. Dumas gets over looked on account of the Pulford years where Bob got the final say on the list of five Dumas gave him, but wasnt restricted at al afterwards and then suddenly the Hawks drafted better.

Duncan Keith= Dumas pick. End of.

Tallon takes credit for drafting the gimmie picks, but this team was built by Michel Dumas thru the draft. And trading for Patrick Sharp= Dumas, Versteeg= Dumas.

Lets not get carried away with exactly what Tallon brought to the table.
