Meh. Neither would qualify as a loss, IMO.

What I was afraid about when we got Lisin.

Sure, give him 3-4 years and he could have become a decent player. Like Martin Straka was one type of player when he was 23 y/o, and a completely different type of player when he was 33 y/o.

But its 100% pointless to get him, and then only give him 2/3 of a season. Completely pointless.

Not that Korpedo was any better, but thats a bummer.

This is to open up cap space for a deal, cant be for any other reason.

Impossible. Lisin is the most talented player on this team behind Gaborik.

Somewhere out there the death rattle of Lisin's tenure as a Ranger (and, subsequently, his ravenous fanbase) is ringing in the winds.

Agreed. Not seeing the sense in it.

Didnt we have a Marcel Hossa fanbase too?

For every player that sticks we have 4 or 5 who drop of the map. See; Kondratiev, Immonen, Baranka.

Question because I honestly do not know: Since they are on waivers, does that automatically open cap space (for a deal within..soon) or do they have to clear/be picked up first?

If someone claims them, they're gone and we owe them nothing. Otherwise, they have to clear waivers and be assigned to Hartford before their cap hit comes off our books.

Interesting comparing lisin to straka. I've no memory of a young strata other than him being a good player.

Voros, good riddance but why Lisin for nothing?. Could they not get a freaking pick. I hope Voros gets a pick and Lisin miraculously clears but doubt it

Two of the worst players to play for this team post-lockout.

Agreed, Straka scored 30 goals in his second season in the league.

He was also a great two-way player, so if he wasn't scoring, he could kill penalties or play in a defensive role. The same can't be said for Lisin.

really good question. They could just wait till noon then assign them. Regardless I think it goes till a few hrs to the deadline before we hear anything concrete
