Fantastic signing at $1.4 per for those three seasons.

Not bad for $1.4M, can't beat that. I still am wondering if there is a bigger fish that Fletcher will be after this offseason at the very least.

Very reasonable deal. Good to see Cal isn't greedy, on top of his other attributes.

The revenue that the Wild earns from selling "Clutterbuck" jerseys at the Hockey Lodge should easily pay for his salary. That reminds me. I need to go out and buy one.

Little much for a clear 4th liner, but he works hard, can score a few goals, and gets under people's skin.

Oh phew, fortunately for us he's not a 4th liner. I was worried we overpayed the player who brings the most energy to our team and the fans, is physical, is a true fan favorite, and is still not even in his prime yet.

Lol. Are you really a Wild fan? Have you seen the guy play?

He is right in a way. When we're healthy, he plays with Boogaard on the 4th line.

Considering when Kobasew comes back, he will probably get knocked down to 4th line minutes at the very least, it isn't that far off. He has elminated the need for Boogaard IMO. And its time for people to let Derek go. The goon players are a thing of the past in this NHL. He's gone, what? 200+ without a goal? Even Brashear and Laraque have scored.

Yes, and I'm a Season Ticket Holder as well. He is a ball of energy and he helps get the fans back into the game when the Xcel sounds like a funeral procession more than a professional hockey game. However, he is exactly that though....meant for an energy line. I'm glad we have this signing, and I'm sure he took it because $2M+ would be pretty stupid.

Hopefully people are taking off the glasses and realizing this though. He is a great player and a great person, but lets be real. This team still needs to get more scoring.

If you look into the future, you will likely see the guy on the 3rd or 2nd line.

Also, I've seen him a lot on the line with Belanger and Nolan this season. 4th line?

The 4th liners on the Wild are Ebbett, Earl, Boogaard, Sheppard, Smith, etc. Cal has as many goals as they do combined.

Kobasew was injured which moved Cal up, while Nolan was on the 4th line earlier this year as well(When Brodziak was playing with Kobasew-Clutterbuck). I expect Cal to move back down with Chuck returning, unless we decide to trade Nolan like we should, but it doesn't sound like we're selling.

I see him on our 3rd line next year:
Brunette-Koivu-X/Miettinen
Latendresse-X-Havlat
Kobasew-Brodziak-Clutterbuck
X/Boogaard-X/Ebbett-X/Miettinen
Depending on what goes down. I do not expect James Sheppard to be on this team next year, while Ebbett likely can be retained for cheap, and by the sounds of things earlier I think Boogaard will be back. Just comes down to whose our #2 center and will we have any $$$ to upgrade Miettinen on the top-line.

Clutterbuck is a 3rd line quality player now, and I don't see him growing into much more. 20 goals? Maybe, but other 3rd liners put that up.

I have no problem with him on the 3rd line, or calling him a 3rd liner.
