There is no reason for Sather to make these moves waiving both Voros and Lisin unless he has trade finalized. With Gaborik and Del Zotto out the Rangers are short a forward for tonights game. However if he has trade in place where he is taking back more salary then he is sending out the Rangers have to be cap compliant so by this time tomorrow it looks like Slats has a deal in place so that Voros and Lisin's cap hits will be off the books.

In essence, he has to make this move today to accomodate the incoming player, so at least there will be at least one NYR trade announced by tomorrow; and for him to put two players on waivers, its probably a significant player coming back in return with a higher cap hit then whats going back the other way.

BTW, was the rumor of Girardi not making the trip to Ottawa yesterday true? If so wouldn't we even be even more shorthanded tonight?

So Gabby can play hurt for a worthless bronze metal and now he cant play tonight and I bet for the next week at the very least, just like I have been saying all along. What a waste, torts should force him to play, I dont care if he can make it worse or not!

Do you think the Rangers will do anything special for Hank's birthday today? Girls jumping out of a cake in the locker room?

First of all, the Bronze isn't "worthless" especially for a guy from Slovakia who's never won an Olympic medal along with the rest of the Slovakian hockey team. I'm pretty sure all of us did not want him playing if he wasn't 100 percent but that medal is something that means a lot to others even if you consider it worthless. And good thing you're not running the team, otherwise Gaborik may never be healthy.

So Gabs will sit, huh? ****

We managed to win without him against Pittsburgh and Tampa though. Hopefully the same happens tonight... Not counting on it though.

You hope with the layoff and late start this team will come to play and not sleepwalk.

Some quotes from Brooksie today

Quote:
That's because Gaborik, the Rangers' essential goal-scoring machine, sustained what is believed to be a groin injury playing in the Games last week for Slovakia that will keep him out of tonight's game here against the Senators, if not -- as seems likely -- for at least several more matches.
Quote:
Gaborik is believed to have suffered a groin pull during the tournament after adapting his skating style in order to be able to cope with the deep thigh wound he sustained in a Feb. 9 practice mishap involving Henrik Lundqvist. The Great Gabby missed two of the final three games before the NHL break and was able to play 4:02 in the other.

so lemme get this straight. our stud plays for his country in a meaningless bronze game and cant go for us couple days later ?

hurts his groin adapting his skating style to a cut thigh?

and we go tonite without our best forward and our best offensive dman against one of the best teams in the east.

and then we waive 2 players but expect one of them to suit up and play.

and lastly, we hear that we are either buyers or sellers..... i guess depending on if we win or lose tonight.

what a team.

To be honest... I would rather have traded for Kessel when we could have, instead of signing Gaborik.

But that's just my personal feeling.

Gaborik will NEVER play a full season in his career.

Next 5 Games:

Senators
Penguins
Capitals
Sabres
Devils

The class of the East, and 30% chance of getting in as it stands right now. The Rangers will have to win 3 of those 5 to keep the pace necessary to get around 90 points to finish the year, and possibly without the services of Gaborik.

Even more reason to be sellers.

Like ive been saying all along, not making the playoffs. And after tomorrow well have a bunch of rentals and valuable UFA assets with nothing to show for them in the summer.

A short bench tonight to boot.

EVERYTHING IS POINTING THE WRONG WAY SLATS, DONT FORCE IT.

That excuse that Gaborik hurt his groin adjusting to a new skating stride is honestly the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Don't ****ing play if you are the fastest skater in the league and you have to change the way you skate due to injury. I can't believe he played the entire damn tournament and he's right back in the press box when the Rangers resume play. What a joke.

The Rangers looked at Gaborik and didn't seem too concerned

Quote:
In addition to being examined by the Slovakian medical staff, Gaborik also was believed examined following Friday nightís match by Rangersí athletic trainer Jim Ramsay, who is serving in the same role for Team Canada.

Though neither Ramsay nor the Rangers have jurisdiction in this Olympic matter, the Blueshirts did not seem overly concerned yesterday by the wingerís condition. Gaborik, who has scored 35 goals in 58 games for the Blueshirts, has not missed a single game because of the hip and groin issues that turned him into a part-time player much of his career in Minnesota

sorry. my bad.

yeah, hes bad. not very skilled. his best attribute is that he will allow himself to get beat down by anyone who is willing to spend the energy.

that and hes popular in the locker room.

skill wise... think house plant.

He doesnt do anything particularly well. he is mediocre in every area of the NHL game except effort.

Why he has been in the NHL so long is a mystery to me.

Ah, now I understand why. Yeah, he's got to go. He's a good friend of Lundqvist though and he looks nice, but yeah we need someone better.
