The other option is to give Cube 2nd pairing minutes and have Grebs on the 3rd pair. Let them fight for custody of their favorite member of the Hamhuis/Klein pairing.

I think we've probably rounded the corners on the square pegs Hamhuis and Klein, so they are closes to fitting into those holes. I never mind when Franson gets minutes either, he plays well. For the second pairng though, maybe Gerbeshkov will be an option eventually. If he's supposed to be worth a 3.2 million qual offer I would hope so.

Anybody know how he is on the penalty kill? Seems as if most are saying he's not that great? Surprises me a bit if he's supposed to be such an agile skater. And on the penalty kill it seems to me the decisions are a bit simpler than the type he's accused of messing up too often at even strength. So, personally, I'm hoping he helps us on the kill. At least he's a new body to try.

Which is impossible as long as they're playing together, so, in short, we're boned.

Anybody with an update to Grebeshkov's immigration status for tonight's game? Glennon's last update on his status was that the Preds hoped it would come through by game time.

This piece from a writer from the Edmonton Journal might appease some of you:

Nashville's Poile buys low, sells high, getting his team a hidden gem in Grebeshkov

According to John Glennon - Grebs will be playing tonight with Boullion

Poile may have bought Grebeshkov low, but he doesn't sell high. He will hang onto a player until his value is in the dirt (Arkhipov, Zidlicky, Peverly, etc). Only example I can come up with is Dunham where he got good return on a player "in their prime" who wasn't a pending UFA.

It won't be the end of the world if Greb bolts to KHL after this season-- a 2nd rounder appears to to be the going rate for an average dman, even if they are pending UFA. But, it will make the organization look like a doormat, again.

Mostly agree. Zids was about static so I'm not sure I'd point to that. I think he did ok with Shishkanov- a 2nd was it? He bagged Andy Delmore before the Sabres figured out his level of suck. You can't really count the firesale of Vokoun but he did ok there and you can't really count the Timonen/Hartnell situation.

Shishkanov went to St. Louis in the Sillinger trade.

Poile with a big grin after Grebs gets a goal and an assist in his first game. That's almost Sullivan-like.
