Only if they have a deal for a goalie in place already. Or in the offseason.

Recent reports have #TBLightning linked to Raffi Torres and Kris Versteeg, Lightning have green light to make a move to help playoff push
-Tampa Tribune Beat Writer Erik Erlendsson

The general feeling is the Lightning need to make the playoffs for Lawton and Tocchet to keep their jobs so I expect something to happen, not necessary Versteeg though.

Some times its best just to stay the course. IF we trade away picks and prospects now for just an 8th seed just so Tocc and Lawton can save there jobs. Were knocking off three to four years of our rebuild.

I wanna keep Demo and I know this won't happen but what about a deal like this for Versteeg?

To Vancouver:
Kris Versteeg
Niklas Hjalmarsson
3rd round pick

To Chicago:
Pavol Demitra
Cory Schneider
Mathieu Schneider
1st round pick

Is Chicago in a position to take on salary? Also, isn't Hjalmarsson a big part of the future in Chicago?

I would suggest that Chicago passes on Cory because they already have Niemi and are looking for a real goaltender, passes on Matt because he's a bum and Hjalmarsson has higher value and is a better d-man for under half the price.

The 1st round pick is a nice cherry, and Demitra would be nice for a stretch run (and is gone at season's end if I'm not imagining things).

Does Chicago bite on this? I can't see this being overly appealing. I thought they were looking to jettison a big chunk of salary.

Bwc's post is pretty much an accurate assessment of that offer
