Anyone would be interested in Wolski? He's supposedly available. 2.8 Cap hit, RFA at year's end would cost about the same to re-sign.

I like him, he's a talented kid, but a bit of an enigma, inconsistent with Colorado, but a change of scenery could help. Plus it's not like he's awful, he's 24, in his 4th full NHL season with goal totals of 22, 18, 14 and 17(to date). Would be a guy I would be willing to take a chance on if Horton costs too much. No clue what Colorado would want for him though.

Canadiens pursuing Florida's Horton
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Canadiens may be looking to make a major splash on trade deadline day, as Montreal's La Presse reports the team is interested in Florida Panthers forward Nathan Horton.
According to the paper, the Habs have roughly $2.5 million in available cap room.

Late last night, the Canadiens shipped right wing Matt D'Agostini to the St. Louis Blues for prospect Aaron Palushaj, freeing up some extra, albeit minimal, salary space.

It's believed the Canadiens are trying to sell off another body, reportedly defenseman Paul Mara, and must also factor in the eventual re-signing for center Tomas Plekanec.

"Other players interest us, but we are tight against our budget," Habs GM Pierre Gauthier told La Presse.

Canadiens head coach Jacques Martin coached Horton, who is rehabbing a broken leg and is expected to return to the ice shortly, when he was in Florida, and the Habs have reportedly been targeting him for several weeks.

Despite Andrei Kostitsyn and Benoit Pouliot returning from injury, and Mike Cammalleri set to return in a couple weeks, the Canadiens are still searching for extra fire power up front.

The Habs have been linked to Columbus Blue Jackets forward Raffi Torres, who will command a second-round draft pick.

La Presse suggests the Canadiens may be dangling the likes of Sergei Kostitsyn and Maxim Lapierre as trade bait.

Seems like a really informative artticle from TFP.

I WOULD!

I wouldn't mind Clowe coming in...but people on here talk about him like he's Ovechkin. He's a big slow streaky scorer who brings a physical element. Nobody in their right mind trades AK for him straight up, let alone thowing in a 2nd rounder.

I'm all for a Horton for Kostitsyn swap if that's on the table or being discussed.

Also, worth discussion? During the Olympic break I believe Eric Engels said he'd bet one of Lapierre/Sergei wouldn't be with the team after the trade deadline.

I think nothing else will happen for us to be honest. Not necessarily a bad thing though.

Although, if we do make a trade....I call Sergei for Cogliano.

Definitely, and Clowe doesnt even take the body as much as they should. Too many people go off how players perform in NHL10

I was reading Yvon Pedneault's'Twit this AM (I for one believe it is the real guy) and he expressed what I believe is the voice of reason:

1) Horton will cost players (likely AK for cap purposes) and no use trading a healhy body for a player on the DL with the playoff race so tight;
2) Halak for Clowe might happen after the playoffs, as Sharks might not resign Nabokov

McGuire completely ripping on the Leafs.

Just had to say that Pierre Mcguire just took the Leafs and Brian Burke to the woodshed. Hahaha he dsetroyed any sense of hope the Leafs (may have) had. Priceless.

He just scored some brownie points with me

I'm all for adding Cogliano, but wouldn't mind keeping Sergei in the process. Cogs centering Sergi on the 3rd line, maybe they ignite some Knights (OHL) chemistry. Would Laps + mid prospect/mid-late pick do it?

If they trade Sergei, I hope they got something interesting (No Cogliano please).

Sadly, they make one trade today that he likes and he'll make a 180.

Nathan Horton as been linked to the Habs in the past. I would LOVE to see him with us. Can play wing or center, he's big and a good goal scorer.

But how can we afford him ? We just don't have the money to keep him and sign Plekanec. And I don't think that the Panthers are interested in getting a big earner in return.

Or, it's only a rental player. Is Horton a UFA this summer ?

I think it is a big mistake if we trade Lapierre today. He really can be a solid third liner. Last year he really came through when our whole team was ****. Off years happen, and I don't want to see lapierre traded for a rental. Lets hope it doesn't happen!

Ahaha yeah that segment was totally epic. First time I really love what McGuire is saying, and oh god he's right.

Oh and BTW, if we get Horton, Gauthier is my idol.

According to 2-3 sources on Twitter, Roman Hamrlik has been asked to Waive his NTC.

I hope he's moved. We can't possibly sign Halak, Price and Pleks and keep Hamrlik at 5.5.

How about Mara and OB for Dan Hamuis? I'd so make that deal in a second.

McGuire said last night that Florida is going to trade a lot of players, but Horton is untouchable. And he's best buddies with Randy Sexton.

Well, that could get interesting. But we can't afford to deal Hamrlik without a solid stay-at-home defenseman coming back.

Maybe we are out of the playoff right now without Hamrlik during Markov injury.
