Why not just hang onto Owens in case he becomes something semi-decent? I know it's no big deal, but Newbury will never be an NHLer

Newbury might have more skill than Prust. He is a solid middleweight, willing to go anyone much like Prust.

I have a feeling he will be called up before the end of the year and will be the 4th line center

This has to be a favor to owens. Owens has NHL talent and a bigtime heart. This move makes no sense at all.

Torts.

Renney never had any use for them (beyond Orr). Has to be Torts requesting them, imo (although this one seems an AHL move... I guess Brashear can't cut it in the AHL either!).

Owens is a scrappy, heart-and-soul player who never gives up on a play, never backs down, and isn't afraid to stick up for a teammate. There's not a whole lot there offensively, but he's good in his own zone and on the PK. He worked his ass off for two years playing on an AHL deal in Hartford before earning an NHL deal this season. This year he's really struggled. True, he wasn't likely to ever make the NHL, but he was a good soldier for the Pack. He's a fan favorite in Hartford (won the fan's favorite player award last season) and will be missed.

Maybe they are trading a player that has a NHL contract for a player that doesnt. Then they are adding additional players with a NHL contracts?...just an idea...idk

David Paterson and Charlie Rangel are going to throw them a big shindig in mid June.

NHL teams cannot trade for players that don't have NHL contracts (they can trade for their rights...)

Also helps the Pack now, as it gives them a natural center and allows Dupont (and more recently Ambuhl) to go back to wing.

You all really have no idea what a big trade this was for Hartford.
People are in the streets, up in arms.
The devastation for the Wolfpack will be felt for the foreseeable future.

All because:

Friday, March 26th vs. Adirondack Phantoms at 7pm: Jordan Owens Bobblehead Giveaway!
First 3,000 fans receive a Jordan Owens Bobblehead courtesy of Comcast

http://www.hartfordwolfpack.com/defa...p?wolfpack=110

What will they do with all those bobbleheads now???
