Okay, but what does this deal mean? I guess just a depth D for the Pack....

Can they please waive Redden?

The 35-year old Eriksson will report to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. He has three assists in 12 games with the Coyotes this season.
From the TSN story. Guess he wont be playing for the Rangers.

Based on what I saw from him this season, Eriksson is a bottom 3 defenseman at best. He spent a lot of time in the press box.

The only thing this does for the rangers is that they eliminate a contract at the end of the season. An NHL team only gets 50 contracts.

I'm pretty stingy with picks, but its a 7th. Ya get those back trading down a few spots in the 5th/6th round. We've done it many times.

Anders Eriksson is so mediocre at best it amazes me we haven't traded for him before. Wasn't he at camp one year?

did we seriously give up a pick for a guy who was on waivers? i mean i understand its only a 7th, but steals have been made in the 7th round before.

wiikman was a rfa that I'm certain wasn't going to be qualified anyways. all this does is provide a 7th dman, but he could have been picked up on waivers for free. Seems like glen was too busy reading Cigar Aficionado to check the waiver wire and had to throw in a pick last minute

Hartford deal.

Yet he trades a RANGERS pick. Lovely.

Not a big deal either way. Who the **** cares. I did like Wiikman for a while though. Not anymore.

And a 7th is a 7th, its still a pick.

The Rangers have acquired veteran defenseman Anders Eriksson, 35, from the Coyotes and will assign him to Hartford (AHL). The Rangers sent goalie Miika Wiikman and a seventh-round pick in the 2011 draft to Phoenix to get some blue-line depth for the playoff run. Eriksson actually fills that role of veteran seventh defenseman that Alexei Semenov was supposed to, until he rejected the Rangers’ contract offer and bolted for the KHL.

For your guys' sake you better hope Anders "Bubba" Eriksson never laces up for the Rangers. He is a god awful defenseman who has made career out of winning a cup with DET while sitting on the bench.

Yep. Amazed at how long he's been around. Makes Kim Johnsson look like a Norris candidate.

they are at 50 contracts, so they can't claim anyone.

also if they claimed him they couldn't send him down
