Some people are stimulated by the cosmic appeal of a free throw.

That was the game during the blizzard when the roads were shut down. But it makes them look even more pathetic then they are

If you go to a Nets game, you can get your taxes done for free. Man, basketball is bad.

I laugh at the thought of a bunch of "Nets fans" lined up at a table with some guy in a suit working a calculator while the game is going on. That would be better

ya know I was at work today and I was thinking that it wouldnt suprise me if Leighton let in 6 tonight on the same day the Flyers decided to do nothing at the trade deadline and what do you know the Flyers get waxed by a Panthers team that had scored like 13 goals in the last 9 games. Or something like that.
At least Carter remains hot. How anyone can continue to get down on him is beyond me. He has been our best forward for the last month at least.
Keep Leino in the lineup too.
Oh and congrats to Parent for his first NHL goal. They did get him the puck didnt they?

Missed this one...had a mid term to write. Caught the highlights but was the score really an indicator of how bad we played or was it just one of those games? Also, what were the lines looking like tonight?

I missed it too, just watched the tape of most of the first. Flyers had some chances early - breakaway by Gagne, Pronger hit the post, then they scored on a bouncer in off Reinprecht and a PPG after to go up 2-0. I didn't think the Flyers were getting outplayed and I wouldn't fault the goalie on the goals.

Here's a big difference between me and you and most of the board when it comes to Leighton though. You attribute his wins to his play because you believe that he's stepped it up lately, but a sizable amount of us believe that the team in front of Leighton is stepping up to the point where it's getting Leighton wins and bumping up his stats. That's why it's hard to give credit to Leighton for his wins. His positioning is bad and his rebound control is horrible, but the defense is good enough to cover his back with both of those issues. So I credit the defense for that more-so then Leighton.

I mean, it's not Leighton's fault that he has to be our starter, but it is his fault that he sucks.

I actually remember Niitty having a sick glove hand. Maybe my memory is wrong though. Regardless, I don't believe Leighton's glove hand is any better. Maybe that's just me though.

Since he's joined the team Leighton has made many a save that bailed them out and kept them in games and, when it comes right down to it, won them games. Every goalie....EVERY one has a bad game every once in a while..Miller, Brodeur, Nabby...everyone of them has looked as bad or worse than Leighton did tonight at some point(s) in the season...not saying Leighton is in those guys' league, but the point is that all goalies have their off nights, Leighton had one tonight...it was questionable to play Leighton in a back to back and he obviously didn't bring his best stuff. The team in front of him didn't do him any favors either...shoddy coverage on the first three goals...fourth goal I pin squarely on Leighton.

I believe Leighton deserves some benefit of the doubt here, having played very well for most of the past 20 games...tonight's lackluster performance doesn't wipe out all the solid ones that came before it. We really need to see how he plays over the next 4-5 games to make any kind of conclusion that he's indeed regressed back to the mediocre goalie many believe he is/was. One game does not a trend make.

Can't totally blame Leighton for this loss. Team defense just wasn't there tonight. Regroup and get ready for Buffalo. Carcillo/Rivet round 30?

Hartnell continues to irk me. Taking his usual penalties, bad passing, bad skating. I would have taken a 6th round pick, just to get him and his large salary off the team.

Say what you want but this team will be lucky to make the playoffs let alone the 2nd round. How the GM allows this to happen is beyond explainable. Forwards and D are fine and can for the most part play with anyone. Yet he hangs hs hat on a 3rd strign goalie who has put together a decetn hot streak? Are you kidding me? Does eh even watch the goals he lets up, what a joke. They have to be the laughing stock of the league right now as far as "supposed " contending teams go. If he is nto canned this summer, that is inexcusable. You have a coach now who will probably have to alter his gameplan because of this problem. You dont even have a young hot shot backup to call up to maybe carry you a little. Thelast 3 deadlines you have seen you need a 2nd rd pick to acquire someone, yet shooter deals his and cant make a move. No doubt in my mind the players have to be disgusted knowing deep down they really have no shot.

it's just one bad game by Leighton...

Then it's just 2 bad games from Leighton, it's just a slump he'll come around.

then it will be 5 bad games, etc.
Then we will be in 8th spot and get torched by the caps

I hope I'm wrong

But that hasn't happened yet, has it? So why get anxious over it.

If anything, why blame Leighton? The TEAM has done that each season for the past 2 years now. Lost 2 straight, everyone said we'll see, then epic breakdown where they drop 10 of 12 or something along those lines. If anything, blame the team.

Both him and Boucher looked off their game last night. Whatever. Re-group and take on Buffalo Friday. I'm more concerned about Buffalo than Florida.

Because that's what Flyers fans do.
I'm not ready to freak out yet. Ask me again on Friday night.

They're playing BUFFALO. That's a good team.

Freak out if they lose to the Leafs and Isles.
