Would that source be your BFF Toothless Teddy Purcell?

It's really not Hammonds job to announce trades first. I could careless that he doesnt/does know before there are other guys who will get to it. So, I'm not sure where your bug with him came. It sounds pretty pointless though.

I've seen this sentiment pop up more and more lately here and at LGKs. Hammond is one of the best things to happen to the Kings in the last few years. I guess we're starting to eat our own.

TheFourthPeriod twitter: Someone asked "can you confirm, Capgeek reported kings sign Brayden Schenn"

His reply "Looked into it, Kings told me, "not to my knowledge".

Seriously? By bit of a joke, do you find his information inaccurate? Poorly conveyed? Redundant with other news articles? Or that he wasn't the first to report news on several items?

I find his articles to be quite informative- I get much better information flow about the team this year than at any time in the past. I think he's doing a great job. I also find that he's the first to report a vast majority of the Kings news I read.

If this were true, Hammond or Barry would report it, haven't heard anything from the both of them, and they're both the most reliable sources when it comes to LA Kings. Hammond first and then Barry

There's a huge difference between those 2.

Why the hate towards Hammond? He's never been about breaking a story first, he gives an inside look at the Kings. He gets to watch practice and travel with the team. He interviews players daily and reports some of the day to day stuff that happens with the team. This kind of access is the best thing to happen for the fans in a very long time.

He doesn't sit outside Solomon's and Dean's office waiting to hear about the latest contract signing. I'm sure the Kings will deny the signing until the lawyers are done anyways. Capsgeek probably knows someone in the NHL legal department.

exactly but people are always gonna hate. Remember the kings trainer that got fired earlier this season, even he took some jabs at Hammond.

I second this. I'll always check out Rich's stuff before worrying about somebody breaking the news on the latest trade. Besides, Rich'll be the first one with substantial quotes from management and the new player.

Lombardi just revealed he was playing with a "severe groin strain" during the World Jrs.

EDIT: That obviously wasn't aimed at you, af.

People might think the cap hit is high, but that is standard for an achieving 5th overall. It is only around 3-400k off of Doughty's cap hit. It is a standard contract and can be beneficial for storing away that cap space for the inevitible re-signing of said player. But it does indeed count as $3 million+ against the cap when he is up with the Kings.

Right, but don't his bonuses just add on to our bonus cushion?

2g and 4a last night bring him to 94 points in 58 games, 1.65 ppg, 2nd only to Eberle in ppg and a year younger.......
The Oilers sent Eberle back to the WHL for his 4th year, please fell free to send Schenn back to us for his 4th year!!!

There is no bonus cushion in the final season of the CBA. Right now, 2010-11 is the final season of the CBA (though the NHLPA has the right to extend the CBA for a year).
