Good pickup for the Moose, IMO. Labrie was never going to amount to much more than an AHL grinder/fighter. Stastny is a top-six forward in the AHL and can perform spot duty in the bottom-six of an NHL team too. Nice move by Gillis to help out Manitoba, IMO.
Already being discussed in The Trade Deadline Thread. I doubt we need a separate thread for such a minor deal. Or do we? (It's not like any of us know all that much about them... haha.)

What if it's the only trade of the day? Also ITS THE FREAKING CHEESE. How do you not know him.
Good move by the Moose. I assume that we will be picking up Stastny's one-way contract, save some money for the Canucks. Only downside is that we are carrying 6 vets now (can only dress 5), with the possibility of at least one more coming down when the blueline gets healthier in Vancouver.
Labrie has been playing very well the past month or so, he's sort of a Tanner Glass type, a little bigger. I doubt the Canucks/Moose would have brought him back next season, his entry-level deal is up after this season.
He's apparently a physical, relentless and gritty player. Not going to score much at the NHL level, but all hallmarks of the type of fourth line AV likes. I think Stastny is for the Moose, but if they get knocked out of the running, it wouldn't shock me to see him recalled to get some playing time with the Canucks.
while I don't know much about Statsny, I appreciated Labrie's truculence
I remember watching one game where Labrie basically beat down the Marlie's enforcer. Basically, crushed him in a fight and then challanged the bench. It was nice

I think that if he were a better skater, he'd be in the NHL right now. Unfortunately for him, even Hordichuk is a better skater.
