Thanks BB!

That Maxim Lapierre hit on Nichol was so cheap, you can check it out on Puck Daddy's site. But the best part of the video is Ferraro's reaction to it! I miss him as the Oilers color commentator, no offence to DeBrusk but he just can't break down plays and doesn't have the understanding of the game that Ferraro does. I hope he'll try coaching some day.

Thanks BB!

We can't afford to win any games, that being said, I would think we're able to win at least 3 of the remainder. 0 for 20+ games would be sweet! We REALLY need that 30th spot finish.

Thanks BB!

I voted 6-10.

The pressure's off, and quite a few players can thrive in that sort of environment. Add that to some Springfield callups with something to prove, and that's a mix to win a few.

I also think that with a lot of young players wanting to impress the coaching staff and management, we might well get a few wins here and there.

Finishing with around 60 points seems reasonable to me, which would mean that Toronto needs at least 10 more. They'd be in the same boat as us, though, so hopefully we won't overtake them.

Not really news, except to me, but the guy in the crowd looks like the same guy we kept seeing at the Olympics when CTV would cut to the crowd. It blew my mind when I stumbled across it last night.

Who IS that guy? He was at the World Juniors the last two years too.

Whatever his job is, I want it.

Oh, and there's a thread about him in the Olympics forum, you should post that picture there too if you haven't already.

I voted 1-5. The defence corps that was in shambles for much of the year is even worse now. Last year and previously when the team got hot towards the end of the year we had good goaltending to steal a few. This year we're not going to win like that at all.

Also did anyone else catch the Journal's excellent fact checking? According to them we're stuck with Moreau's 2.7M contract but got out from under Staios' 2M contract.

I voted none. But I'm sure they'll get a couple points by forcing games to overtime.

Or let me re-word that... I'm sure they'll get a couple points by blowing it in the third and letting the other team take it in OT.

Looking at the schedule, I'd say we have a 50/50 shot to win about 10 of our last 20 games. The others are against teams that are simply out of our league right now. So, that's about 5 games. If guys start playing better now that the pressure is off, maybe that number turns into 7 or 8.

I have a feeling that losing Smid for the year, and trading Visnovsky and Grebehskov, hurt us more than taking the pressure off helps us. Let's face it, the pressure has been off for a while now, with us all but statistically eliminated from the playoffs, and we still only managed 4 wins in the last 30 games. I think it's more likely we win 3-5 than 5-7 of the remaining games, and that's only if our team can find their pride, and play for it.

-JH.
