Yes yes, my mistake -- I was assuming that Vancouver would put him on waivers and then he'd be traded if he cleared. I realize now that it's Phoenix putting him on waivers.

Still more than Schneider than anyone thought he'd be worth.

Zimmerman is a 6th round pick as well... this is essentially a salary dump by the Canucks. Addition by subtraction considering Schneider would never play another game as a Canuck.

Omg I'm gonna hype the **** out of this new guy.

FACT: Zimmer is Hebrew for The Future.

I'm going to need a classless Zimmerman avatar asap.

Zimmerman is a 6th round draft pick from 2005.

He's a depth defencemen at best.

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/sean_zimmerman

He's rated a 5.5C on HF

This is it. This is basically their last chance at making a lasting impact in Phoenix. If they have a playoff run, it will bring fans out of the shadows and they will come and support the team. They're in a position now to make the playoffs and they need to do everything in their power to not only make it in the playoffs, but to really get out of the first round. If they can't accomplish either of those, it's the final kiss of death essentially for the long term future of the team. The support will not be there in the years to come.

The trade was with Chicago - a 2009 seventh-round draft pick conditional on games played.

As I recall he did not meet the conditions so the Blackhawks retained the pick (drafted David Gilbert from the Quebec Remparts).

So we lost Sharrow for nothing? Brutal.

Also Schneider for Zimmerman?

Hebrew for Hebrew?

I'm looking forward to playing the Coyotes with Schneider on their blueline.

How long before Dave Tippett gets frustrated with Schneider's shaky play in his own end? He doesn't seem like a Dave Tippett type of player.

According to TSN the pick is a 2010 pick which is real big. If Schneider makes it through re-entry waivers then it'll give us 6 picks in 2010 instead of the 5 that we have right now.

Why do I recall the Canucks having a employee by the name of Zimmerman?

I believe he was the President of the company but he stepped down and now Gillis is the president.

What are we missing other than the 2010 2nd (Bernier)?

Assuming Schneider clears re-entry waivers here are the picks that we got for 2010:

1st(Van)
4th(Van)
5th(Van)
6th(Van)
6th(Phx)
7th(Van

Let's hope our scouts can find us a gem or two in the later rounds

Right, thought it was an 11' 3rd round.

Really hope we can acquire a 2nd or a 3rd round pick before the draft. 90 spots is a LONNNG way to go without picking.

Like Brandon Kozun, who was drafted in the 6th round.

He's cleared through waivers and the condition of the pick was that he make it through.
