Just wondering what's a good place to get some autographs of away team players when they come to play in Edmonton. Anyone know which hotel they normally stay at?

It used to be the Westin, dunno if that's still the case or not.

The smart teams just stay in Calgary. Some dumb ones hit up Calgary restaurants and refuse to pay the bill

Don't quit your day job.

In the past teams have stayed in The Westin, The Sutton, and The Hotel McDonald.

We're at the Westin right now, there seemed to be a lot of Minnisota jerseys here last night, so I suspect the team stayed here. I'll watch for Boogard this morning, maybe I'll hit him knee on knee in the lobby!

Sutton mostly, I know this because I work close to there and I see several road players at Edmonton Centre.

I believe Dubnyk is still there as during his last call up I saw him being dropped off at the hotel.

A few players lived there during the season too. I know Stoll did.

McDonald Hotel, I've seen multiple players from multiple teams there before.

I just about ran over Conroy there this year, but I figured that might actually help Calgary out so I decided against it

I used to work at the Westin...4 years ago now. Mind you, I wouldn't recommend trying to get autographs in any of the hotels. At the Westin, at least, we would either ask people not to if they approached players or we would escort them out of the hotel if they did it more than once. But there were always guys waiting outside the hotel on city property waiting for players to come out...but players, 90% of the time, ignore the autograph requests and just get in the bus or in cabs to go wherever they're going...unless they're just grabbing a bite at Sorrentinos or Ruth's Chris or somewhere very close.

The teams we had stay with us were the Canucks, Coyotes and Predators. We had a few Eastern teams stay with us, but I'm not aware of any Eastern teams who regularly stay at any one hotel. We had a number of Eastern teams stay with us though. It's wherever they get a good deal that time around, I think.

Westin also gets ALL of the CBC, Sportsnet (Ferraro practically lived there), NHL, CFL and NBC employees. And a number of the Edmonton Rush players stayed there as well. Oh, and several CFL teams too.

As for the other hotels, Sutton gets most of the business. The Mac gets a few teams, probably less than the Westin. The Wings stayed at the Delta for some reason. Thornton Court Hotel got a few as well-- I doubt they do now as a Marriott Courtyard though. I know teams have stayed once in a while at Crowne Plaza as well.
