Miracle, Slapshot and any of the Might Ducks movies.
Remember The Titans is another good one as is Field Of Dreams, The Legend Of Bagger Vance and The Greatest Game Ever Played (golf movie about Bobby Jones).

The mighty ducks movies are fun, but don't show much true hockey. I guess after understanding the game some of the luster is gone. I mean, Kids in full check play, lots of penalties that are let go (and in a real game would be called immediately. Elbow to the face anyone?). I remember a scene where a goal counts when the goal is dislodged and a player is inside the crease.

I notice lots of things I didn't when I was a kid watching the movies. Still a fun time.

I really love Miracle though. Other than that the best sports movies are baseball related IMO. Field of Dreams, The Rookie, The Natural, A League of Their Own. Mr. Baseball and Major League are fun too.

Hockey
Mystery, Alaska
Miracle
Mighty Ducks(don't prefer one)

All sports
The Rookie
Remember the Titans
The Replacements(I like it, might not be the best choice)
The Field of Dreams

But The Blind Side wins. It's about a football player so I'm counting it.

Rocky.

As far as hockey movies go, everything is second to Slapshot. Youngblood is a good one as well. I can't believe that anyone is saying any of the Mighty Ducks movies. Corny as it gets.

The ONLY reason why I say mighty Ducks is for the comedy. I mean Keenan Thompson(All That, SNL) doing knucklepuck? Or D-3(I'd say is the only close to reality one) with their "pranks". How can anyone hate "The Velvet Hammer"

What I like about the movies is the theme about chasing your dreams, don't give up what you love, don't play for someone else but do it for yourself, giving everything you have and not winning is better than playing dirty. Stuff like that. I also liked the struggle with the past that Emelio Estivez's character has in the first two movies. The flashbacks to his pee-wee hockey team and feeling like he lost it for his team and struggling with the loss of his father.

I think the underlying themes are good, but the actual Hockey and the movie itself is corny and pretty much a straight up comedy.

slapshot is the best hockey movie ever.
mystery alaska and miracle are also good.
anyone ever see road hogs? it was released by the rockford ice hogs during the lockout season. it really tells about life on the road. thats worth finding if you can.
as for the mighty dux series. only 3 is decent for any non children. 1 and 2 are for kids .but they did help hockey gain a little more popularity in the states(good or bad ).
slapshot 2 i liked as well because it tried to say how "growing the game" was sucking its soul out. and i wholeheartedly agree with that concept.but thats another thread altogether.
slapshot 3 was kids movie that my 8 and 6 year boys old still love watching once a week.
the rocket was an excellent movie.as was the ted lindsay movie(cant remember the name of it right now).

Hockey:Slap Shot. Makes me want to go on long bus rides and get paid almost nothing to play hockey.
Baseball:The Natural. I think every guy wants to be the guy who does something great at the end of the game. Hobbs just happened to hit it into the lights, don't see how I can do that in rec league hockey but I'll keep trying.
Football:I'll go with We Are Marshall. I was unaware of the story even though I grew up in that era. Surprised that type of accident hasn't happened more in professional sports.
Basketball:Semi-Pro. Lick me sexy.

I think Slapshot 2 and 3 were even worse than any of the Mighty Ducks movies and that is coming from someone who gets red faced at the sheer mention of a "knucklepuck"

Major League ("Just a bit outside!!")

Don't know why they're both baseball, but they're great.
