Nick will do a great job on TV PBP.

I wouldn't wish shingles on anyone. Ugh. Get well soon Bob!

Anyways, at least Jim Fox is off the hook. It was funny to listen to for one game, but one game was enough.
yeah something like that. it's pretty brutal. my wife had a mild case, and she was pretty tore up for weeks.

It's pretty terrible. Gary Gygax eventually died (@ age 69) due to complications with shingles.

GOOD LUCK, BOB!!!

Jim Fox was a bit more brutal than I was expecting.

Not sure why Nick Nickson's radio pxp just couldn't have been simulcast to the FSN tv broadcast...

Get well SOON, Bob!!

Several years ago we were about to visit Canada, and I had some "rash" on my back. The doctor thought it could be shingles, but turned out that it was just a reoccurance of ckicken pox, that I had when I was a kid. Once you have chicken pox, you ALWAYS have them, they just go dormant, and kick up once in a while. Anyway, it was quite painful/very uncomfortable, and the doc said shingles would be a bit more painful, so I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

So anyhow, our trip to Niagra Falls / Toronto HOF was accompanied by the (under remission) chicken pox - not the most comfortable vaca ever to say the least.

There is a vaccine for shingles now for folks 60 and over. Well worth getting it considering the 4 weeks of hell that's usually involved going through it.

Seriously? Have you ever been to Montreal?

There are beautiful women in any major city but Montreal easily has the highest percentage of gorgeous women out of any of the major NA cities I've been to. Easily.

I believe it actually resides near the end of your spine. Probably why you can never catch them again. If you get hit hard enough the right way in your lower back, it can reactivate. I think I have that right.

I hope Bob makes a quick recovery. I like Jim as a color guy, but that PBP was waaaay too brutal. He's so used to saying as much as he can in little spurts, and he carried that with him in the PBP. So weird to listen to.

Anyone have any "best of" video from Jim's PBP work? I didn't get to see the game and I'd love to hear it

My best line from Jim in the Montreal game was "nothing's happening" when one of the King's players (I don't remember who) was shooting point-blank about 5 feet away. I am not kidding. Jim said it, right then.

Jim probably got a good ripping from a lot of people for his performance, all in good fun I would imagine. It was nice to hear Nick though. I enjoy him on the radio, and listening to him sounds "right" to me. If for some reason Bob could not continue (we all hope/pray he does), Nick would be perfect.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Bob Miller.
I didnt hear Fox doing play by play which from what I gather is a good thing. Nick is great on the radio so I can only guess he is equally at ease on TV as well.

Nick did an awesome job, as expected. He really is great to listen to, and in my opinion, doesn't sound THAT much different than Bob.

Though, I was half expecting him to say "Kings moving right to left across your radio di- I mean your screen, I mean, well, you can see for yourselves!". I'm kind of bummed he didn't.

"Miller says he's coming along, that the rash, which is on the left side of his face and forehead, has dissipated somewhat but that he's most concerned about keeping it away from his left eye because if it does invade that area it can cause vision problems.

He has several doctors appointments Friday and is hoping to be back in time for the Kings' game on Sunday against Nashville.

"Everyone I talk to says not to rush back," he said. "If you do, it can cause more problems."

So all Miller can do is sit, rest his pipes and watch the Kings on TV.

And loathe every minute.

"I hate missing games," he said. "

The good news is that Miller hasn't lost his sense of humor.

"My face is pretty gruesome," he said, chuckling. "And the thought of it being on TV in high-def would make me even more scary looking than usual."

It wasn't his AC that was the problem (Gary had a natural thac0 of 20 [3rd ed rules]), but that his saving throws against disease weren't high enough.

Late to this party, but why not just do what Vin Scully does and broadcast the TV audio over the radio?
