Lars-Peder Nagel picked up a goal and an assist when the Bakesfield Condors lost 8-6 to Victoria Salmon Kings.

Olimb doing pretty nicely for Sarnia. 10 pts in 14 games shows he can definitely cut it. Wont be long before he is 2nd on the team in scoring I think.

Tollefsen has been sent down to Dayton of the ECHL. The Crunch has added some vetern depth, so they sent him down to get more minutes. I'm thinking this is just for a few weeks, till someone on the blue line gets injured and he'll get called back up.

Thanks for the update! I hope you're right about it being a fairly short stint.

I saw the Crunch in Albany a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately Tollefsen picked up an instigator half-way through the first, so I didn't get to see him play very much.

No problem. It is just for this weekend. I read on another board from someone that lives in Syracuse that he coach said he wanted to take a look at some other defenseman that played well during camp but ended up getting cut. Instead of scratching OK or have him get 5 minutes, they decided to send him down so he can get more minutes. After a slow start to his pro career, he was starting to show signs as to why he was a force in juniors.

Olimb`s certainly been doing good lately. He really should`ve been drafted last summer...

I read that he just came back from a concussion. Too bad he missed the U20 in Sheffield--at least I assume he would have been there if he had been healthy??

This guy is seriously talented. Plays on arguably the best line in Norway this season with Smith and Dubkov. They produce like crazy, and are all top 3 point producers here (Spets-21-22-43). If Lars Erik continue his progress he`ll make the NHL. Count on it.

What kind of players are Nagel and Jensen? Fast? Though? Are they NHL-material?

I`ll be very surprised if Nagel turns into anything close to an NHLer. His pure talent for the game isn`t anything special, but his effort and determination is great. He wont contribute to much on the offense, but he`s very sound defensively. Joakim is much more "European" than Nagel. More pure skill and better vision on the ice. He really likes it in the Q and if he continue to improve his game he might have a shot...

Ok. Cheers.

Seems like norwegian hockey might have a bright future with the likes of Spets, Holtet, Olimb, Trygg and Jensen. Are there any good d-men or goalie prospects too?

We got some good defensemen coming through as well. Ole Kristian Tollefsen was signed to a proffesional contract with the BlueJackets some time back and there is also some talented kids playing home in Norway, like Pål Kolsrud (VIF) and Pål Velo (Frisk Asker). Goalies, the way I see it, is by far the greatest problem. We don`t really have a big shot goalie talent, and the ones we have are very inconsistant...

Yes, sorry. Patrick Kolsrud. About the goalies...I just saw that Mathias Gundersen (Lillehammer) was awarded best goalie in the Div 1 U20 tournament held in Sheffield, England, recently...

Red line report

Heres a quick review of what the red line report thought of Olimbs preformance at the Division I World Juniors. Not sure if you've seen it - sorry if you have

Quote:
Mathias Olimb: Norway. While Kopitar shone at the "B" pool in Estonia, Olimb led the Norwegians into the world's top ten nations by winning the "A" group in England. He also was the leading scorer in the tournament in Sheffield, England, putting up nine points in five games. The small but very feisty forward also racked up 18 PIMs along the way. The tiny, longtime Red Line favorite is always creative and trying new tricks in his deep arsenal. Always fun and exciting to watch. Has plenty of burst and speed and if you give him any space, he's gone. Unlike many small Euros, he will drive through the clutching and chopping and is not deterred by physical play and traffic. Great passion and determination.

Morten Ask

Ask left the Wranglers in early November to return to Norway to be with his wife. I was told she had a kidney transplant. I was wondering if there was any word on his expected return and/or if he is playing in Norway now. We need him back, but wish him and his family the best. The Wranglers suspended him to retain his rights.
By the way he played 7 games this season with 2 goals and 4 assists. Looked good!
I have tried searching for information on him on the internet, but can not find a free site to translate Norwegian. Some of the Norwegian sites I have found it appears he may be playing there. Any suggestions/help with translating?

THANK YOU!!!!

Morten Ask plays for Vålerenga (his motherclub) and has got 8 goals and 8 assists in 12 games along with 56 PIM and +13. He was also chosen for the Norwegian Olympic qualifier team that squares off against Denmark, Japan and Switzerland 10-13 February.

From what I've found it appears that he has signed a contract with Vålerenga for the rest of this season, but that he left Wranglers on good terms and wants to play there next season.

(If you want me to translate some pages for you, just send me a PM with the link.)
