Post - trade line.

So, what do you really think - about trades and our chances for postseason?
I did a small research and i found out this - right now we have 68 p in 65g.
Last season we had 68p in only 67g and 70p in 69g.
The diffrence is, that other teams are better this year than last.
But now we have big homestand in our way, that could change some things.
The PO is now started, actually.

And about players - Visnovsky is great! The goal against Habs showed it!
Ward - wow, i like this guy - 5 hits in his first game as a Duck, and 3 blocked shots and assist on 2nd. Big guy.
But what i didn`t like is our goalie situation. Toskala would be better and Killer will need to get rest more often, but Mcelhinney with our defensive game is drive-through.
But i guess Murray needed to trade Toskala because of the cap, to get Ljubo.

I say it`s only 30-40% that we are in the PO. It`s mostly because of the goalie situation.

Your thoughts?

1. The Ducks need to win out on this home-stand.

2. Visnovsky is a #1 defenseman.

3. Ward has been a great addition (in the two games he has played).

4. McElhinney will not start a game, IMO. I do not have a problem with this--Hiller is in great shape.

It`s imposible for Hiller to start all games.
And thats not good

I'll be absolutely shocked to see McElhinney play a game unless we clinch a playoff spot or are mathematically elimnated. And I expect this team to miss the playoffs in the last game or two, so no McElhinney.

I dont think its impossible but i definitely feel like it could impact his play in the playoffs IF
a.) we even make it to the playoffs
b.) we are starting him every single game..

We knew this already though....Toskala wasn't going to see **** for icetime. So why have an expensive bench warmer vs. a cheap benchwarmer?

1. Because calendar is wery tough this season, because of the olympics.
2. If we still make the PO with only Hillsy, then i think he could be to tired. So it can`t happen. PO with McElhinney, imagine?
3. If we can`t make PO anymore, then ther`s no sense for Hillsy to start all, better let McElhinney do the work for better draft pick.

Hiller was used to playing back-to-backs in Switzerland. The schedule in his last season in the NLA was full of those. The Olympics actually helped compared to others since he still got a solid break when Switzerland was eliminated. I really doubt there he brought much fatigue back to Anaheim.

Usually there are a couple of days off after the end of the regular season and before the playoffs. Hiller starting every game until then would be nothing that couldn't fix, imo.

However, I agree once we are eliminated it's safe to say Carlyle will take a look at McElhinney. Until then - don't see it happening.
