Because he's a good player? What are you complaining for?

Because when he concentrates on the things he does well, he is a real force in this league.

The kid shouldn't be playing on the first line, but as a 2nd or 3rd line RW when he goes with his "meat and potatoes" game he is a very effective and taking the puck to the net, drawing penalties, and scoring the odd goal here and there. I would like to see him concentrate a little more on turnovers when he is in on the forecheck and not so much the big hits, but I think he has made real strides in that area of his game lately.

There isn't anything wrong with Dustin Brown. The Kings are getting their money's worth and then some.

In all fairness to Brown (and being one of his biggest critics, after all, he is the captain and one of the highest paid wingers on the team), he gets a lot of attention because he has consistently been a 20+ goal, 50+ point winger who leads the league in hits.

He has had his swings where he performs like the player we all expect him to be and he also can disappear for stretches of games. My issue with him is his consistency in performance. Not so much offensive numbers, but being out there creating havoc, scoring chances and driving the net.

I want to see him play just as he did in the Olympics when he was generating many scoring opportunities from his constant pressure and aggressive fore checking. He didn't put up flashy numbers in the Olympics but he played exceptionally well after the first two games (when he was invisible).

I still believe that he has it in him to be a 30 goal and 60 point winger. He is still adjusting to being a leader and one of the top players on the team.

Other than fans from other teams saying they would love to have him on their team and a few hockey writers around the league agreeing with them, what kind of hype is there?

He isn't getting hyped for any major awards, and he seems to be growing into his leadership role quite well. Let's come back and look at this in a couple of years and I think we will all be pleased.

Do you realize you are complaining about a fluff piece regarding Dustin Brown's off-ice contributions by donating to charity and helping a cause? What's wrong with you?

Among the hit leaders nobody produces like Brown, even in an off-year.

He is the best BY FAR in the league at drawing penalties and not taking them.

If we're talking about hype...find me a GM who wouldn't absolutely love to have Brownie on their team. He is normally one of the first guys talked about when opposing GM's talk about the Kings.

I just don't see the big deal. I wouldn't even call it 'hype'. Most articles are about him being a captain and living the role on and off the ice.

... You are mad about him getting "hype" over his off-ice contributions and donating to charity?

Just don't read if you don't think he "deserve" all the hype... Jealous?

Shouldn't we be happy that the media mentions anything related to the kings at all?

I agree with you King Doughty, he does suck at defense, not very high game IQ, passes when he should shoot, shoots when he should pass, doesn't stand up for teammates (the fight with Brouwer was the first time he's done that as a Captain) and he's one of the fruitiest divers in the game.

Liberal fan boys on this board will say things such as "Well what do you expect him to do", "but he tries really hard", "at least he hits people", "i bet he could beat you in hockey", blah blah blah blah.

This is all of course, my opinion.

This and his physical play are the only redeeming qualities of Dustin Brown

Its one thing to complain about Brown's play. That's valid. But the context of this thread is absolutely ridiculous.

Is this an argument that Dustin is not very good or is it more about he is taking the spotlight off some other more deserving player?

Exactly JDM,

We can argue as long as we want about the performance of a player on the ice but this thread is just useless and saying that he gets too much attention just sound like jealousy to me.

Lets not forget that he also took a significant discount to stay in LA and play for your team. He is such a jerk...

Honestly, I wish more players showed the heart and loyalty that Brown does. Yeah, he isn't the 33+ goal scorer like we all thought/hoped he would be. But he leads by example.

Yeah... This isn't going anywhere and is pretty much unredeemable now. If you want to debate over Brown's play, then do so in the TSN post I made about him just yesterday.
