Dale Weise

Weise scored his 22nd of the season tonight and has been doing a fairly good job for the Pack this season.

My question to those who watch him; do you think he's ready for a callup or does he still have stuff to work on?

I know we're probably not going to see him this season, but he's done everything a 2nd year pro should; improve his offense, take more shot, more PIMs=being more involved, and he's a +2 on a fairly erratic team.

Bring him up Torts!

hey he sounds good from what you have said, and we need heart and soul guys like we need a Stanley cup. This year we have seemed to have to many dead games with not enough guts and sould, i mean Lisin, Anisimov, Drury i wont say Gaborik because its not his style so everyone says, but honestly if he plays a Prust type of game, call him up.

Not in terms of style. In terms of being a very good AHL player, but a not so good NHL player.

Maybe borderline 3rd line, probably a 4th liner though.

Parenteau is a small one dimensional player that has no physical or defensive side. Weise is a 6-2 grinder who can score, bang bodies, play defense and drop the gloves.

Horrible comparison. Weise was an excellent pick and should top out as a nice 3rd liner, because when he isn't scoring he can provide many other assets like Callahan. P.A doesn't stick because he needs to get top minutes or play with top NHL players to succeed. Weise doesn't. Another great pick from the '08 draft.

I agree with the last post. You can't call Dale Weise P.A. 2.0 because he's only a 2nd year pro and he hasn't played an NHL game yet.

I don't expect him to be a 30-goal scorer. I expect enthusiasm, hitting, and north-south hockey. When the Rangers are sleep walking through a game in late December he goes out and crushes the other team's Dman on a dump in and wakes the crowd up. Crashing the net. When Carcillo touches Gaborik, Dale jumps in.

And he can add about a dozen or so goals.

That's why I'm high on the dude.

I guess Rangers fans are just accostomed to our "prospects" being suspect. I will raise a skeptical eye as well after all my name is Thomas! I hope he is good, and sticks, but I want to see it first.

Weise is a legit prospect. His goal tonight was a beauty. Kid has made the most stride of anyone on the Pack this year and if the Rangers aren't in contention down the stretch he should get a look just for the hell of it.

The day Weise becomes a consistant NHL player is the day I'll bump this thread and admit I was wrong. The Parenteau reference was in regards to being a good ahl player, while not sticking in the nhl. I wasn't comparing the styles.

note: Im favoriting this thread right now for future reference.

How can anyone make a judgment about a 21 year old guy that's never played an NHL game and has been a late bloomer everywhere he's been? Too early to call him another P.A.P. or anything else.

He is right.

Parenteau is top 6 or bust.

Dale Weiss can (and should) be a contributor on the bottom 6.

Ive heard he may be a 15-15-30 third liner with leadership potential, which i'm cool with considering he was drafted late and in the 4th round.

The kid is a larger version of Callahan he is a in your face guy. He scores from in close and get his nose dirty. Weise will fight but not a fighter. He is for sure a NHL prospect and unlike PA his game is not score only game weiss will get dirty play PK and grind.

What's the deal with Corey Locke? He's a top scorer in the AHL, but no one talks about him. I'm not htat knowledgeable on the AHL so cut me some slack, do his skills not translate into the NHL?

Pretty much.

He's also a terrible skater.

One of the most misguided opinions I've ever read on this forum.

Misguided is jumping all over a propsect after he has a good 2nd year as a pro. Personally, I love the fact that we have prospects ripping it up for the pack. Hell, I even drive up there w/ buddies to watch some games from time to time...but until I see some sort of translation into the big leagues I can care less.

The only players from hartford who I know will translate nicely into the big leagues is Grachev. Heikkenen would have been a close 2nd, but he says he's going to Russia. Potter is next followed by Byers.

Weise, Saugenetti and Sauer may make it into the NHL, but I personally feel they will never live up to their potential. Saugenetti's mobility and acceleration is putrid. I'm not so sure his head is in the game.

The next better wave is going to be the Stepan's, Mcdonagh's, Kreider's. I didn't include any of them in this discussion, since we were talking about prospects/scorers in hartford.

This is my personal opinion, so do what you want with it. Attack me, disagree, w/e floats your boat.
