Quick Question - Where's a good bar to go to in downtown San Jose?

Couldn't find a thread about tourists coming to the city, but I've been down here for a week now and we're looking for a good place to go out tonight.

We're all between 21-23 years old, and we're not really to picky in any way. After the Sharks game last night we went to a few bars like the Cinebar, but we're looking to change it up tonight.

If anyone could help out with some advice it would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

brittania arms is pretty good, it depends on what you want to do I guess. I think Trials is pretty good too.

Go to Los Gatos or Campbell instead.

No problem, I don't go out there too often. Make sure you get some Muchos taqueria when you are there. They are quite good (but I am typically quite drunk when I get there)

I suggest NOT going there on a Friday or Saturday night though, as the place is packed and it just feels like a high school party/cattle call...although I've never really been into bar-hopping and such, whenever I've met people at the Brit at night, it's been a packed, uncomfortable madhouse.

Ah, the Cinebar.. didja try the Caravan as well? Lots of weirdos in there waiting for the Greyhound (its right next to the station). Makes for some fun people watching. It's also the place to go if you want really, really strong/cheap cocktails. Firehouse is pretty decent too. O'Flaherty's and Trials are cool too, and if you swing by Trials you should stop by Teske's too.

Cinebar and Caravan are such weird bars. They're... small crowd known bars..you're likely to run into the same people in those bars more often than not and all the people probably all know each other by name...

Trial's rocks. It's a bit off the beaten path though, but worth it. The bars in San Pedro Square are good too. I also like Dive Bar on Santa Clara near 2nd, I think.

Well I think we successfully hit about every bar in the downtown San Jose corridor this week. There were certainly some interesting characters, but I was a little surprised to see how small the bars were here. Either way, it was a good trip. Probably the most fun was had at The Hut at Santa Clara University.

You guys had a good atmosphere in the rink, though and it was a pretty good trip despite the fact that we stayed just north of the airport, and there were a few shady encounters there, haha.

I don't really like any of the downtown bars. I'm a dive bar kind of guy though. I like my bars relatively quiet with strong drinks and cheap prices.

O'Flaherty's on North San Pedro is also a pretty good bar. Smoke is also pretty good, some decent beers on tap. I forget what street it's on, I want to say San Pedro.

Isn't that what everybody likes? Who goes to a bar to meet people anyways?
