Phoenix knocks off the Thrashers in the shootout. Not sure how "pertinent" Phoenix scores are, as I think they'll end up locking down 4th place, and I don't see us catching them, barring some lossses that never seem to come on their part and a serious winning streak on ours.
Colorado beat Dallas in regulation. Good in that it puts another nail in Dallas's rapidly fading playoff hopes, but bad in that catching Colorado is an attainable goal.
Minnesota cooled off the streaking Blues. The Blues have been on a bit of a tear, but are still a decent ways back of us. Minnesota is far enough that I feel good about their victory. With a couple of games left against STL, I'd like their morale and motivation to be taken down a few pegs before we have to play them, including at the game next week in STL, in which I and many other Preds fans will be in attendance.
Calgary is currently down 3-0 in the first to Vancouver. This is important in that I think the Flames are much more likely to "fall off" than the Wings, who are getting hot at the worst possible time for us. A few more of these losses in regulation would do wonders for our breathing room.
Anyway, that's the wrap for 3-14...I invite everyone to contribute, comment, and keep up with this thread. Makes it easy to see who is playing, who we want to win, and what the actual result is.
Related note...does anyone know our magic number, at this point?

Calgary has won 4 in a row, so they are peaking at the right time, too. Though, they are still down 3-0.
So it looks like if we make the playoffs, we'll either play San Jose or Chicago. I would probably rather play Chicago even though I consider them the better team. Anyone agree?

Either one scares the **** out of me. I'd rather go B-hawks just for a change of scenery. Personally I still have nightmares about road playoff games in the shark tank. No thanks.
So work has finally decided to block the sports sites until the end of the NCAA tourney.. anyone want to throw up some info regarding future schedules, etc..?

Basically, we need to win. Beating the Red Wings and the Yotes is essential t a playoff berth. St. Louis will be tough.

I'll take the Hawks. they have the potential for a goalie meltdown, which likely wont happen with Nabby.
Plus I dont want any freaking playoff games going on til midnight local time...
this said, i still think we can catch the Avs, but then it becomes a question of whether we'd rather face the canucks or hawks. I'd still almost rather face the hawks.

Eh, well.
Yes, I'd rather take Chicago with Huet and Niemi. Nabby does have off games though and can suck really bad, but who can't? San Jose also has a track record of choking it up in the playoffs. I'd say SJ and CHI are equally just as talented, with SJ winning in terms of Goaltending.
We gotta win this one tonight if we want to stay ahead of Detroit... on top of all the other reasons we want Detroit behind us, I got into a heated "discussion" with my cousin over these two teams (he's a Detroit fan) and I really want to prove him wrong.
However, I am grateful it wasn't a 3 point game! Silver lining, eh?!
Western Conf. games on 3-16-10
Phoenix @ Tampa Bay
Colorado @ St. Louis
PHILADELPHIA @ NASHVILLE
Edmonton @ Minnesota
San Jose @ Dallas
NY Islanders @ Vancouver
Detroit has a pretty cakey schedule from here on out, with multiple games vs Edmonton and Columbus remaining. To hope for them to fall out seems unrealistic. I'm pleased with the result of last night's game. At this point, the more points Calgary loses out on, the easier our road becomes.

We have nothing left to play for other than revenge for last year's sweep. Those games may be closer than you think.
...at least, that's what I'm telling myself over and over...

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Do it for your biggest rival please.
With a win tonight and Flames loss tomorrow, our road becomes exponetially easier and we can start worrying about seeding, but right now Im still worried about making the playoffs.
