I hate emrick, his voice is nasally and he gets excited about everything. When im listening to him i think there are goals sometimes because of his excitement and it is simply a blocked shot.
Ranger and Canes win.................oh please hockey gods
Im all about shooting for 6th right now. 8th is a closer goal but frankly, I like our chances much better in a series with Buffalo than with WAS or PIT

It's all about getting 7th, and the Devils taking 2nd.
But i'll be more then happy with a Rangers/Sabres series (see: location)
Good. Get ready for a night featuring plenty of jostling, occasional driving, a knifing here and there, and certainly more than a fair share of careening! Oh, and the night wouldn't be complete without a waffleboarding from time to time.
There may be a few that go across the net mouth wide and something will probably be squibbed tonight as well, maybe by the netminder.
It's not in Montreal, so we might actually have a chance here

This is why I think Emrick is a gimmick. A lot of stupid jargon and not much substance

just call the ******* game nutjob...no one cares how many synonyms you know for the word bounce
These posts sum it up for me. The voice, the language, the way he gets excited for routine plays.
That's also probably why casual fans love him. Casual fans watch a game and they don't know what's considered a real chance and they get excited for little things. For die hard fans, we know when something's a routine play and when we hear him get excited over nothing it's annoying.
I have no problem w/ Emerick at all. I don't understand why so many dislike him. I'm a hardcore diehard hockey and especially Ranger fan, so don't give me that. There's not much better then watching the best game on earth w/ an exciting and lively broadcast. Some of these play by play guys are way too dull.

Much of doc's criticism comes from the fact that he LITERALLY does play-by-play. Like he doesn't shut up. He connects all the things happening one-by-one and isn't often stopping for delightful comments or such. By this point it's a matter of personal opinion; if you can deal with someone chain speaking, then you'll like Emrick.

Just going to have to disagree with you there. Doc is probably the best play by play guy in the league. The words he makes up provide a shortened yet more accurate description of what is going on. Jostling, spirting, corralling the puck, these are great terms and Doc uses them well. As a die hard hockey fan myself, I must say Doc really does cover all the details of the game in his announcing. I guess the nasally voice can get annoying, but to say that he's a casual fan's announcer is wrong. He's arguably the best in the business.
