If we keep slipping in the standings am I the only one who would rather finish 7th than 6th so we don't have to face Vancouver in the 1st round?

I suppose, but they really don't match up with Chicago either.

2 more points for the Lawman so far tonight. 8 points +6 in 7 games with Dallas.

They do a better job with Chicago.

The numbers are impressive, but he's probably invigorated by the new opportunity and is also playing on a line with two fantastic hockey players in Morrow and Ribeiro. I'll be surprised if he keeps it up.

You are not the only one. I don't want Vancouver or Nashville in Round 1.

Coyotes win again. Nashville going to a shootout. Colorado wins.

Kings are in big trouble. Shows why Murray held a long practice today, he knows the season could be slipping away. The games against Colorado are going to be huge.

Hahahahaha. Classic.

We even have a Murray behind the bench to lead the boys on a 11-game losing streak to close out the season!

I am not happy with the struggles.

But honestly...at this point I think I would rather play SJ than Phoenix or Vancouver.

Thankfully it looks like the Flames have closed up shop, there is almost no chance we don't get in, but home ice is all but gone right now, and 5th is no better than 8th, IMO.

I still think that a Kings-Phoenix matchup would be awesome. Two teams not expected to win when the season started.

It doesn't matter who the Kings play in round one if they continue to sleepwalk through the start of games.

Every game has been thrilling, I wouldn't mine either

I was there at Staples for that 7 round shootout...even though we lost, it was a great game and enjoyed every minute of it.

San Jose is getting worked...I love it

It doesnt really matter where we finish in the standings, just as long as it is in the playoffs. Each matchup will be tough, I would honestly take Sharks then Chicago then Phoenix then Vancouver. But il lbe happy to take any of them

To reitterate, I think we have a better chance against the expansive teams, Sharks nad Chicago, then we do against the shutdown teams, the other 2

I might be in the minority here, but I will be rooting for the Avs to beat the Flames tomorrow.

Anything that moves us closer to putting that "x" next to our name in the standings.

does anyone else see parallels between the Kings teams of the late Murray/early Lombardi years and recent/current Dallas Stars teams?

- both teams had some talent (the Stars certainly have more)

- neither had goaltending

- neither had good defense

- both had Crawford

- neither had a very good prospect pool

- neither had really effective role players

There seems to be a crossroads in both situations, where Dean went one way (Doughty, Schenn, Hickey) and the Stars went another (Lehtonen primarily, not trading Turco)

Interesting comparison. Ask most Stars fans and they'll tell you they really wanted Turco out, but I would guess the demand for him just wasn't there (his play post-deadline basically confirmed this ).

Our rookie GM also dropped the ball in the offseason, choosing to bolster our blueline by adding Karlis Skrastins, and no one else of merit. Not exactly the best way to replace Sergei Zubov, and the team has suffered because of it.

Dallas ended up picking 8th last year, and I'd rather NOT see them tank in an attempt to pick higher this year, but it seems there are many who do.

I think if we can fix the problems on the back end, the Stars will return to respectability, and hopefully be a regular in the postseason once more. Til then, though, I'll have to rely on performances like last night's to stay optimistic.

Good luck in the playoffs, the Kings are one of the few Western teams I can stand.
