2 more points for the Lawman so far tonight. 8 points +6 in 7 games with Dallas.
The numbers are impressive, but he's probably invigorated by the new opportunity and is also playing on a line with two fantastic hockey players in Morrow and Ribeiro. I'll be surprised if he keeps it up.
It doesnt really matter where we finish in the standings, just as long as it is in the playoffs. Each matchup will be tough, I would honestly take Sharks then Chicago then Phoenix then Vancouver. But il lbe happy to take any of them
To reitterate, I think we have a better chance against the expansive teams, Sharks nad Chicago, then we do against the shutdown teams, the other 2
does anyone else see parallels between the Kings teams of the late Murray/early Lombardi years and recent/current Dallas Stars teams?
- both teams had some talent (the Stars certainly have more)
- neither had goaltending
- neither had good defense
- both had Crawford
- neither had a very good prospect pool
- neither had really effective role players
There seems to be a crossroads in both situations, where Dean went one way (Doughty, Schenn, Hickey) and the Stars went another (Lehtonen primarily, not trading Turco)
Interesting comparison. Ask most Stars fans and they'll tell you they really wanted Turco out, but I would guess the demand for him just wasn't there (his play post-deadline basically confirmed this ).
Our rookie GM also dropped the ball in the offseason, choosing to bolster our blueline by adding Karlis Skrastins, and no one else of merit. Not exactly the best way to replace Sergei Zubov, and the team has suffered because of it.
Dallas ended up picking 8th last year, and I'd rather NOT see them tank in an attempt to pick higher this year, but it seems there are many who do.
I think if we can fix the problems on the back end, the Stars will return to respectability, and hopefully be a regular in the postseason once more. Til then, though, I'll have to rely on performances like last night's to stay optimistic.
Good luck in the playoffs, the Kings are one of the few Western teams I can stand.
If you're telekinetic and you know it, clap my hands!
