Plekanec deal very close

http://fr.canoe.ca/sports/nouvelles/...16-154422.html

The only article I have is french so I'll translate the main part:

Quote:
After 1 month of negotiation, we have learned that the negotiation have came to an end. The stop of those negotiation is to avoid any distractions with the club. Rick Curran, Plekanec's agent has mentioned that the negotiation have went very well and will likely lead to a deal before July 1st. He added that the negotiation were "positive"

It won't stop the nay-sayers until he actually signs.

It's not saying that a deal is very close...only that it's going well...it's really different...

I find it hilarious watching people who cover the Habs blast the Habs for not signing Plekanec to a long term deal this past off season (even though Plekanec would of never signed long term) when most, if not ALL of them were willing to move him for a bag of pucks last summer.

Typical...i'm not worried about plekanec's contract, i'm 99.9% positive he'll sign

The only article I have is french so I'll translate the main part:
"... L'agent de Plekanec, Rick Curran, a tenu à indiquer que les négociations s'étaient bien déroulées et que celles-ci pourraient bien mener à une signature de contrat avant le 1er juillet..."

Your translation of the bolded part: "... that the negotiation have went very well and will likely lead to a deal before July 1st..."

I would translate it that way: "... negotiations went well and may lead to a deal before July 1st..."

Obviously English is not my first language but, to me, "will likely lead to" implies that a deal before July 1st is the most probable scenario. It is not what Curran or the journalist mentioned: "pourraient bien mener à" = "may lead to". It’s one of the possible outcomes; not the most probable.

The way I read it, Curran mentioned: maybe a deal will be signed before July 1st, maybe after.

Long story short: they are saying all the right things (keep all doors open) but there still is no signing.

There is nothing new in the article and this thread should be merged with the other exact same thread that is 4 pages long imo http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=750116

The deal isn't close and the negotiations are going to continue only after the season
