OT: Adam Deadmarsh - Long Road Back From Hell

TSN did a small clip on Deadmarsh and how he is now working with the Avalanche again in the coaching staff.

Adam was always a class act and he continues to be a real likeable guy.

One thing this clears up is that it wasnt Craig Johnsons that ended his career, but rather Joseph Stumpel who collided with Deader in the open ice.

Thanks to The Avalanche for loaning Adam to us for a couple of season. This guy was a real hockey player and since then no one has played with as much heart as this guy did.

Poor Craig. Wrongly accused again.

First, being a no talent hack and then Deadmarsh.

I remember posters either here or at lgk relaying the incident between Stumpel and Deadmarsh at that practice. That was after the Johnson kneeing incident. The point really is that he was damaged goods by that point. His brain couldn't take any more trauma and even if Stumpel and he hadn't collided, he wouldn't have lasted beyond the next hard hit he received.

He was cheated out of a lot, but he also experienced a lot of great things. Really glad to see him on the ice again in that clip. He was meant to be back in hockey in some fashion.

That makes more sense, because Stumpel never hit anything hard enough to cause serious injury, (insert what about Forsbergs spleen comments). However Deadmarsh was in trouble from the Jovo fight on.

They may not have won the Cup that year, but Forsberg's spleen was a great consolation prize...I wonder who got to take it home.

I bought it off ebay a few years back. Every time I put it up on the wall, it fell down and demanded a penalty. It got annoying after a while so I fed it to my dog.

Thanks for posting that. I am glad that he's happy where he is now. I can't wait to wear my Deadmarsh #28 Kings jersey to Pepsi center next week.

This is true, but it was Johnson's knee during a game against the Leafs I believe, that put him on the IR in the first place. He was on the road to coming back when the Stumpel accident happened during a non- contact practice. I kind of wished Lombardi would have brought him back in the same capacity the Avs did. He'd have been a great guy to help the young guys.

Deader needs to come and coach/mentor Simmonds. I have always said that Simmonds reminds of him.

So great to see him back. We were lucky to have him the few seasons we did. An ultimate warrior and one of my favorites. It's crazy to see him now, and how he's gained so much weight. He used to be so thin in the face, but I'm guessing the concussions still keep him from working out for any length of time. The Kings could have gone far with that team, IMO. Injuries to key players like Deader killed it. If there was one player the Kings have had in the past that I could duplicate for this current team, Deadmarsh would be that person 100%.

Let's all pool our money and buy him a watch. Maybe then he'd like us. Maybe then he'd join the Kings.

At the very least, Simmonds appears to be the closest player the Kings have who matches Deadmarsh's playing style (except without the same goal scoring touch and shot that Deadmarsh possessed).

Brown is more like a bigger version of Tony Granato. I recall Granato drawing a lot of penalties due to his abrasive play. Although I think of Tony as more of a pest, Brown can get under the skin of the opposition with his big hits.

I'm happy to see Deadmarsh back in hockey. When I heard about him moving to Montana (or was it Idaho?) I thought he was going to completely remove himself from hockey, which would have been a shame.

Deadmarsh was starting to turn into an offensive force to go along with everything else he did.

Too bad, what an amazing hockey player he was.

He would've been even better with the post lockout rules.
