You know, I thought it was weird that them and Col had the same record but I didn't really think anything about it. Guess I should have looked at the standings page again! Oh well.

Not me. The chance to get that major american market advanced in the playoffs will prove to much even for the incredibly unbiased and wonderfully officiated NHL.

Chicago would get ALL the calls in a Nashville vs Chitown series. We'd be allowed our token game, or two at best.

I want nothing to do with the Sharks or Hawks, that implies we finish 7th or 8th. No sir, I say bring on number 3 or 4.

Calgary wins 3-2 over Colorado...in regulation, but just barely.

Colorado scored the 2nd goal with 35 seconds left and almost got the tieing goal before Calgary was able to get the puck out (well, the Colorado player couldn't hold in the hard pass at the blue line).

So basically we want regulation wins by Rangers, Panthers, Philadelphia, San Jose, and Chicago.

If these standings stay the same for a while, does anyone else worry that San Jose will try to intentionally slip down to #2 to avoid playing the Wings? It matters if it comes down to us depending on them to win a game down the line.

My concern is probably unfounded, though.

I dont think so. San Jose is struggling enough that they will be trying to get back into a groove before the playoffs.... plus they would want to have home ice in the WC finals. they might still end up as #2, but it wont be intentional.

I think just about every spot is up for grabs except Phoenix is almost certain to be #4, barring a complete collapse by San jose.

I don't get it why everyone has us slotted 7th or 8th or even 9th

i was checking the remaining schedules of the teams from 5-9 yesterday and i have to say Colorado has a KILLER schedule and what benefits us even more is that they play LA 3 more times if one of them could sweep the remaining games we have every chance of moving up.

Honestly i have a gut feeling we are gonna end up 6th witch is actually realistic looking at the Avs schedule and then going against Vancouver in the 1st round and beating them in 6 or 7. Simple as that

A voice of reason! Im a bit too scared to look ahead until Calgary is completely dead in the water though. Hopefully by the weekend the nails will be in the coffin of the Flames.

Chicago out with 2 of their top Defenseman (Seabrook and Campbell). Add in Kim Johnsson, and their hurting on the back-end of things. Who knows how long Seabrook and Johnsson are out, though. If they come back before playoffs, things get iffy.

San Jose definitely, as I said earlier, has the advantage in goaltending. Offense, it's pretty even, but I'd give more "explosiveness" to San Jose, if they can get their stuff together. Defense, I'd give to Chicago. It's hard to gauge because we have struggled against both teams this year, but have seemed to play "better" against San Jose.

Who knows, we may not play either of them. I'd say we're moving up to 6th.

I don't think we all do anymore, if that was ever the case. (Golfmade for example above says no 7th or 8th...) At the break many were talking about moving up to at least 6th, maybe higher, but the losses to Detroit, Vancouver and then the third period meltdown against the Sharks, with the teams above us winning consistently, made it look much, much tougher. And put the playoffs themselves in question.

Got a winning streak again though! Four wins, in a row, in only one week make things look much rosier. But we are still 2-4 points behind the Kings and Colorado considering games in hand for them. (It blows my mind we have to play such a compact schedule yet they will still have to play a couple games more from here on.)

I don't care much where we slot. As long as we make the playoffs. I hope you're right and we move up to 6th. Good point on the two teams playing each other, that is a big help. And maybe your shot of optimism helped the team, something sure did tonight!

I would choose Chicago, even over Vancouver. Reason being Luongo and Nabakov.

Looks like some people's (and my) fears have come true, for today at least, and San Jose has slipped to second place.

I don't care who we play, as long as it's not SJ or Vancouver. I don't want to play a Canadian team in the playoffs because that will only bring out the worst in a lot of "idiots" out there, plus with Vancouver and the sisters and burrows and the refs and whatnot.

I want to play a team not in PST. I have to be up early in the mornings. I can't handle another round with late games.

I agree completely. I think the time zone difference is very underrated in the playoffs due to all the travel. Staying in the same time zone could actually be a bonus for the Predators...
