Worst Season Ticket Program promotion ever?

"Season ticket holders renewing or purchasing new season tickets by April 3rd will receive substantial playoff benefits---they will guarantee their seating location for potential home NHL playoff games in 2010, save up to 15% off the face value on those seats and have the opportunity to sign up for “Cheer Now, Pay Later,” which allows fans to pay for playoff tickets after the games have been played"

"Lose for the lottery pick" would be more appropriate. Not much to “Cheer Now" for.

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time

Does anybody else feel sorry for Jeff Vinik?

He just needs a good hockey guy to get this team in synch. I think Lawton knows the shortcomings, but he just isn't a good evaluator of talent enough to know how to fill those holes with the right people...

This team's bright future is in serious cap crunch trouble, if you look more deeply into things. (I did today, for example, in my latest piece.)

Anyone who buys the Bolts should be prepared to lose money (not trolling, I love the Bolts, but this is just reality).

I dont see them being in that much cap trouble if Vinik is willing to spend. They really only have one bad contract on the books relatively speaking right now (Mez).

By the time next season is over and Stamkos is up for a contract (and the following for Hedman), there will be more room on the books and the cap will probably be higher anyways.

I do agree with a lot of your article though. Most of the time I do haha.

The worst promotion was sending out that lame "used car salesman" survey that wanted to know what it would take for fans to renew season tickets. Yes, I want the price the same but I'm not renewing because you're going to give me some free t-shirt or other crap! All we want is a competitive team!!!

A person is not a smart investor if they buy any pro sports team as an investment. If you want to make money there are far better invesments. You buy it for fun.
