Flat Bottom V: Sharpener's Perspective

The shop I'm at will be getting the capability soon, any tips/advice from those who are already sharpening blades with this system? I plan on reading all the instructions obviously when it arrives and have bene doing some research already, just wondering if anyone out there has learned some of those tricks that only experience teaches. Thanks.

From what I understand the technique is basically the same as a traditional hollow but the LHS will charge a bit more for a Flat Bottom Grind vs a traditional grind because the wheel does not last as long and it's considered more of a premium service.

Many skaters in my area switched to the FBV and have not looked back.

I don't see any real cons. Your stride is a bit easier, and you have less friction between your edges. You can also turn/stop slightly easier, and it seems your cut lasts longer.

Cons? What cons? You can have the glide of a 2" with the bite of a 3/8.
