I want so badly to get frustrated but then I remember, we are playing without our top line (AJ - Legwand - Walker) and without our top returning Dman (York) and without Hamhuis. As offensively challenged as we are, we can't expect to score when we don't ice our best two scorers in AJ and Legwand.
i was sort of afraid that would happen to Lasak when he actually had to face NHL competition. Prior to now, he's been facing AHL and prospects, and so of course he's been impressive...and i know that you said that they weren't "bad goals," but that doesn't really make you feel better when you lose a game 4-1. if you're going to be a successful goalie in the NHL, you can't rationalize things that way.
well.....at least we got a short-handed goal, that's good.
Hartnell has scored in the 3 games he's played in, I hope he keeps that up into the season.
And we played without: our entire first line, one of our best defensemen, and one very promising dman. So really we had only 1 of our top 5 guys playing. (top guys being first line and #1 pair dmen)
Just trying to look at the bright side of things here.
Also, Koun came out mid way through the 2nd. He had only given up one, so its fair to reason he could have kept it close, but Lasak also needs to be ready each night...or if Koun gets hurt, it could get ugly.

Agreed. It's more or less a moral victory and we don't need those anymore. But this is his only bad game and he was fielding a team far inferior to that of the Blues. They blues iced alot of good player last night; Mellanby, Weight, MacInnis, as well as a lot of their usual suspects like Drake, Reed Low.
They sat some notables like Demitra and Pronger but as a whole, the Predators sat more crucial players. Our entire first line didn't play, neither did our top returning Dman and arguably a top 6 Dman in Hamhuis. For a team as shallow as we are, that's important. Obviously, it's no excuse to lose, but it does shed a better light on the loss.
