Flyers Cup Finals: Cardinal O'Hara vs. Malvern Prep

IDK if anyone else is watching, but it's usually an exciting game. It's on The Comcast Network right now. It's weird seeing guys play hockey on TV that you've played with and against.

It's like rooting for either cancer or AIDS.

I'm rooting for Malvern, I hate O'Hara. And I know a couple guys on the Malvern team.

Not a fan of prep schools, so this one's for O'hara.

Let's go Friars. I loved going to a school at which hockey was #1. They couldn't get over the state championship hump until 2004, though. Where is Bryan Mountain? The Flyers need a goalie of the future. . .

Mountain was my class, played with him my freshman year and then he went up north to try to get a look (or at least that's what I heard)...good run for my old school/program this year

All of Malvern prep is going to get molested by Cardinal O'Hara.

In addition, the hockey game should be good, too.

O'Hara with the 2-0 win. Malverns goalie kept them in it.

Wow, I didn't realize there were many other Malvern alums on here. Is this the first time we've been in the final since '05?

Take it easy there. Lots of great people came out of St. Joe's Prep (Henry Gibson, Victor Hobson, me.)

Where did you go?

I'm not the biggest prep school fan either, but I'm a Malvern alum so that's where my loyalty lies. Wearing my old Friars jersey today

Plays for my team now, Northeastern University... I believe he was the backup this year hoping for a starting spot this year.

Danny Lassik is my cousin, he was on that old Malvern team. Anyone here know him?

Should be a good AAA state final game this year. A few of the remaining Pittsburgh teams at that level are particularly strong.

So is this like the State Championship for PA or just a separate tournament?

If I remember correctly the winner of this plays the winner out west for the state champ. High school was a while ago though.

This was the Flyers cup
Then there is the Penguins cup (teams out west)

Winners play each other for Keystone Cup

Penguins Cup isn't completed until sometime this upcoming week, I think. They haven't played the semifinals yet.

And yes, this is high school. The amateur state tourneys were this weekend, of which Pittsburgh and Philly are separate, due to the large number of teams. Both areas get to send separate representatives to nationals.

Yeah I knew that but I wasn't sure if these were the same as the state playoffs.

Chris Lawrence was my year, and he wore the C for the Michigan State team that won the NCAA Championship in 2007.
