What would you like to see as our PP units next year?

1st PP Unit

Penner-Gagner-Hemsky

Whitney-Gilbert

2nd PP Unit

Hall-Brule-Eberle

Johnson-Petry

Assuming Horcoff is used as the shutdown centre, we can finally have a very good powerplay in the coming years.

It's not a matter of who. All our players, except maybe Souray, make the same mistakes. Any combination of 5 will have the same lackluster result if the problems aren't addressed.

- We need faster passing plays, where guys don't hold the puck on their stick, allowing the goalie to adjust. We very rarely see a tic-tac-toe play on our own PP, but I see it on other teams' power plays often.
- We need guys to have an idea where they want the puck to go before they receive a pass from another player. Our players don't seem to be able to think 1 move ahead.
- We need guys to be in positions where they can shoot the puck, not just continue the cycle.
- We need our defensemen to take more shots, so that we have more weapons from the point than just Souray (who every team in the league had covered by game 15.)
- We need less passes that end up getting passed right back to the same player (if he passed the puck away, he obviously was not in a position to make a play. Why pass it back to him?)
- After a player passes the puck away, he needs to move to another position on the ice. Too many of our players pass the puck away, then stand in the exact same position, instead of skating to a better one.
- We need our defensemen to recognize when the high slot is open, and move up so that our cycling down low can pay off. We actually have a good cycle behind the net, but it takes all 3 forwards to commit to it, leaving no one out front for the shot. Our defensemen need to take advantage of that cycle down low.

All the bolded players were injured for some part of the season. In Souray, Hemsky, and Grebs' case it was for a significant period of time.
