Would you give up 1st overall...

To Boston for Tor and Boston's 1st round picks? If the Hall/Seguin decision is 50/50 and Boston went for it, wouldn't it be a smart move on the Oilers' part?

2 - 1st Rounders and one of them would be Hall or Seguin.

Yes, I would do that. I think both players are going to be about equal in the NHL and to get another 1st rounder I would do it immediately.

Haven't we had this thread a bunch of times already? Yes everyone here would do it, no Boston doesn't even consider it.

Have you given some thought to the costs and benefits to Boston for doing this?

Not true if another bottom 5 team (eg. Carolina) were to win the draft lottery. In that case, the Oilers would be picking 3rd.

Good point, if the two players are too even to justify this on the Oilers' part, it pretty much stands to reason that Boston wouldn't jump on it. The only way I see this as a possibility is if Boston desperately wanted one or the other. (which isn't realistic)

Thanks.

Yeah, I would do it. Hall for Seguin and Fowler/Gormley/Gudbransson(sp?)

I think Boston's pick is most likely in the 12-16 range.

checked standings lately? TOR is 4 pts back of 11th in east.. That pick could be 6-7th overall now if other teams decide to tank.

Boston might consider it right now if the Oilers also threw in a b-grade prospect like Omark but after the draft lottery if they're guaranteed #2 there's no way they'd consider it.

I don't know. I think the Oilers need to take Hall. I think he will be our Stamkos like saviour. Who knows if Hall starts making an immediate impact there might be a ufa center in the near future who would love the opportunity to play in between both Hemsky and Hall. (Malkin I'm talking to you boy!)

Honestly even you were to get a guy like Connelly at #4 the guy barely played and most scouting reports have him that high still thats amazing.

I'd give it up for those picks pretty easily.

If the Toronto pick ends up being #2 overall, then yes I'd do it. But Boston would not, unless they were unusually high on Hall or Seguin and wanted to ensure they'd get one or the other.

If the Toronto pick ends up being #3 overall or lower, then I'd not do it. We definitely need a blue-chip forward. Boston might have more incentive to make the deal though, especially if they want help up front (vs. getting Fowler, etc.).

no, but you know what I would give up for the Tor pick? All our picks after 31st overall.

Thanks.
While you can never have too many centres, to say it's completely unrealistic that Boston would want one a lot more than the other may not be true...with Savard, Krecji, Bergeron (not sure who their line 4 centre is), I really think they prefer Hall a lot more than another centre like Seguin

Absolutely not. The Oilers want Hall and will not be trading the first overall draft pick.

I wouldn't do it. If the Bruins make the playoffs, the pick is no higher than #15. If the Bruins play in the SCF, the pick is #29 or #30.

Obviously the trade would be made by the teams after everyone knew what draft position each team were in... so there wouldn't be any issues with "if team x wins the lottery" or "if team x plays in the finals"... etc.

If Edm has the # 1 pick and Tor(Bost) has #2 and lets say Boston's 1st ends up at #16 then I'd personally do the trade if I were the Oilers because I think #2 & #16 is better than just #1. When is the last time a team has traded the #1 pick though?

Here's some speculation by Toronto fans about what it would take to get the #1 Oilers pick... humorous.

If I was the Oilers I wouldn't do it. The Oilers really want Hall. Hall and Eberle were teammaates at the WJHC.
